After my SHOCKING TRUE CRIME experience of yesterday, I need a replacement mobile. Currently looking at HTC Desire or Motorola Defy, anyone have either or can recommend another?

And I'm not going to buy an iFoan, so please don't bother suggesting it.

If you're not going for an iPhone, HTC Desire is definitely the next best thing. Go for it.

My girlfriend has a HTC Desire, really fucking good phone.

Only problem she has with it is the battery, you'll need to charge it pretty much every night.

Other than that it's pretty much an iphone for people who don't want an iphone.

The new ones at least.. I had an HTC touchpro which sucked all the life out of me. Friggin horrible.

Also the HTC desire takes microsd so you could turn it into a 32gb music player if you wanted!

There is also an HTC Desire HD with a bigger screen and some other fancy stuff. My gf has it and she's quite happy with it. Only problem is that it was quite hard to find a good shell/pouch for it, as everything is iPhöne size or smaller.

Anything where the battery and sim card can be removed when you don't need the phone.

You think they are putting cameras on EVERY phone because they are nice guys that love 10 dollar cameras in 10 dollar phones?

I buy a new phone every couple of months since they are so cheap anyway.

If you are worried about your computers, you simply only need to create an IRQ conflict that prevents the onboard mics and cameras from getting any power from the MoBo.

My point is: Don't be stupid. Motorola has already admited they outfit cable boxes with mics and cameras for spying purposes should a mandate to use them exists. Thanks to the Patriot act, such a mandate doesn't even need to have a paper trail.
