To the guy who asked if Wagner was next...

I wouldn't mind it. Wagner is a pretty cool guy, eh. Inspires metal to this day and doesn't afraid of anything.

I mean come on seriously Little Richard

I remember that HIM review a while back got blasted to bits and IMHO HIM would be more ideal than LR on this site.

Seriously how many bands out there anyway even remotely consider LR as an influence in their style?

Unlike most of other non-metal reviews this one doesn't even attempt to somehow connect it to the genre. It's basically, "Let's a take a break from what we're supposed to be reviewing here and throw out a Little Richard review!"

Kind of a joke, IMO.

I'm all for early hard rock reviews[Cream,Hendrix,Zep,The Who] but I really don't see how Little Richard belongs here whatsoever.

And as far as Wagner goes,I for one would like to see an occasional classical review.

I agree with the majority here...I think the website should stick to reviews on metal or metal-related.

This is a well written review (the score of a 100/100 is pushing it too much, although that is a personal matter), but this album has nothing to do with the theme of this website. I am sure there are a lot of other music reviewing websites that would cover this kind of material.

Elvis Presley next week right after Christmas?

I did a double take at work today. I'm all for expanding my taste in music genres, but this is a little much.

Personally, I want to see a Prodigy review up here. Invaders Must Die was a pretty cool album...

A review of Little Richard (and Captain Beefheart), but still no review of the latest release by Helloween.

It's not my website, so it's not my decision, but it just seems a bit, well, odd...

To be fair, the Captain Beefheart review was a special write-up in honor of his death.

And it's not easy to make sure the most significant stuff gets reviewed. We don't have access to whatever albums we want whenever we want them. I'm not unsympathetic to the call for more metal reviews, but keep in mind that it's not as though Tony looked at Little Richard and Helloween and went "Hmm....I'm thinkin' Little Richard."

My point is, I wouldn't think of this review as being up "in lieu" of Helloween or another metal album. We review metal albums when we can review them, so it's not like a new metal release was cut from the slate in favor of Little Richard.

It's an opportunity cost, my dear friend. By reviewing Little Richard, he wrote up and posted a review on a metal website that very well could have been a review of a metal album, any metal album that hasn't been reviewed here yet. By writing a Little Richard review, he therefore effectively snubbed any of the thousands of metal albums that haven't got a review on this site.

I still think the Little Richard review is just an elaborate troll job by Tony and you guys are falling for it by being so uptight. :D

I don't like Little Richard.
I don't want to read the review.
And finally, I'd like to add, "100" is ridiculous.

No. Some of like to keep classic rock and metal as segregated as possible. Wagner would be acceptable.

A question. If this was given a 100/100, why isn't it in the "Classics" section? I actually think this review was more like a "Let's put up a review of this album and have some fun." kinda thing.

Ok ok!!! Take it easy, this is the VERY beginning of Rock'n'Roll I am so sorry that I did not address the new Helloween. Power Metal is not my forte, but if it really irks you guys that much that I am pushing the limit and being adventurous, then I'll address the request list the next few weeks. Just put on something decent to review and I'll get on it.

I've nearly written Stones archives before now. I think I'd stop listening to metal altogether if I started heading that way, however.

I think what people should remember is that this isn't just Tony posting whatever classic rock album he likes with no thought to the content of the site. If we were doing that, I would have posted at least 6 Bruce Springsteen reviews by now, all with mathematically impossible scores. Tony clearly sees records like this one as the roots of ALL rock and roll and therefore relevant to heavy metal. You can argue with that idea; you can argue whether it matters; you can argue with the score; those could all be fun and productive conversations, even. But try not to think of it as unbridled staff indulgence.
