Great album, spot-on review. I would say this is just as good as the incredible Damascus Steel :dio:

Might have a read of Metatron's explanation too, thanks for bringing that to my attention :)

They were always one of the more interesting bands. Sadly underrated.

Thanks for the great review. I have been absolutely in love with this album the past couple of weeks. Is their older stuff just as crazy or is it more straight forward black metal?

Ever so slightly more straightforward, but still crazy. Definitely check out Damascus Steel, it's their best album IMO.

Just listened to the album cover to cover twice (or was it three times?)

Speechless.

Just speechless. I can't believe I hadn't heard of these guys earlier.

Guess I'm not very up-to-date on my black metal. Listening to the Meads has put me on a BM kick, though.

Thanks Goat. Not sure why I had always blanked on this band.

And the Hawkwind connection? :dio:

Off to a great start listening to this stuff!

A bit uneven, particularly the stretch between Psychotic Sand Deity and Jewkiller, but the high points are tremendous. Very good stuff.

I wouldn't call this black metal I would just call it experimental metal.

Only listened to it once, no clue as to what I would score it.

Listened to this in the car again today. This album is a brilliant piece of music. I would give it the same score. Some of the metal parts weren't the greatest so I can't give it any higher than a low 90's score, but the album overall is genius. Some really cool shit they have going on here.

Well they have been featured and reviewed in Metal Hammer and Terrorizer, as well as being popular on the internets for quite a while. There was some buzz around them after the release of Damascus Steel a couple of years ago.

I dunno how I feel about this. It seems to be " experimental " sure, but it's not very cohesive. I don't really understand what they're trying to go for. I sort of had that trouble with their earlier albums but this one seems a bit more out there.

It's an interesting album, spinning it again right now, but I just get so many different impressions I don't really know how I totally feel about it. I like bands off the wall, but these guys just stretch out a bit too far in each direction for me.

I do like the album. I think it'll grow on me. There's just some moments where I'm questioning what the point of the music is.
