I love the crap outta Kataklysm but their last good CD was In the Arms of Devastation and even that was sort of a let down.

Like where is the energy? The crazy blastbeats? They've sort of dumbed it down and made it far more melodic, like melodic death metal almost. Not even really deathcore which I'd probably enjoy more.

A lot of what they're doing on this album and Prevail was terribly generic. I would have rather they took time off to come up with something more interesting or intense... These albums just lack a lot of feeling.

I'd give this like a 65/100, personally. I've given it maybe 2 halfhearted spins and keep trying to go back because I love Kataklysm, but nothing on the album stands out at all.

Gotta be honest, I prefer Ex Dio to anything Kataklysm's brought out. Don't understand in the slightest why though given that they're basically the same band :S.

I've kind of lost interest in these guys. What I heard of Prevail wasn't good at all, so I'm not sure if I'm gonna bother with this. Might go check out some youtube clips.

I didn't think that after all this time people still cared about them.

I think I would have been perfectly happy with that album being a Kataklysm album. It's not like really good or anything, but it's a bit different and it's really what Kataklysm needs right now instead of writing this generic garbage.
