Talking about Transilvanian Hunger on Facebook just seems wrong.

Too much of something good is a bad thing? I feel like that's correct in most situations but that just sounded dumb.
It's like the BM Version of Megadeths Youthanasia. It's too mainstream, even for Dimmu Borgir standards. The following Puritanical was much better.

Too mainstream?

This is kind of a perplexing complaint for anything, but really, what makes this more "mainstream" than Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse or Puritania? Did we even hear the same album? Phantasmagoria, The Blazing Monoliths Of Defiance, and Arcane Life Force Mysteria are all really fucking heavy by Dimmu standards.

Eh, I've always been one to express myself when I felt like it regardless of the outlet.

Dreamside Dominions, United in Unhallowed Grace, or the Promised Future Aeons... too much Keyboards for my taste. The DB Keyboards were always a bit more annoying to me, than in other BM bands...

My favorite album, their best album and probably the most underrated. This is one of the best keyboard albums I've ever heard. For me it's their darkest album, best composition, best everything, the atmosphere is plain amazing.

For those who complaint about the keyboards, do you actually like hearing good and solid piano or synthesizer's work? Because if this is not a masterpiece, than I don't know what it is.

After you get into the keyboards, and inside this organized sound chaos, you'll arrive to a different dimension, the Spiritual Black one ;)

I was once a fan, but I eventually just listen to this one album over and over, without getting tired. Music like this doesn't come very often in life.

100/100 for me.

A lot of BM bands have a FB, Myspace, or what have you... And there's loads of BM fans in all sorts of different groups.

Also I'm surprised that so many of you are behind this album. Seems more cheesy to me than a lot of their albums. Some of the keys are real lulzy.

Huh. imo, the keyboards are the best part of Dimmu, pretty much because Mustis is a badass. Their arrangements were always top notch and very musical with the keys and piano and whatnot. Oh well. To each their own, I suppose.

I'm not saying that the keyboards are bad, BUT for me they sound too synthetic. For me, the keyboard sound on Cradle of Filth albums was always a bit more natural and unobtrusive compared to dimmu borgir.

And yet, around this time period they were using the same keyboards .

It's more a kind of production thing. And Midian was a much much much better album than Spiritual Black Pop Melodies.

Midian was 100x more poppy than this. Are you sure you didn't get these albums mixed up somehow?

Are we genuinely arguing over who is better hasn't this dialogue been retorted an regurgitated ad nauseam? In Dimmu's case they had one semi-decent symphonic metal album and that was EDT, while Cradle of Filth has been shit, albeit slightly more dexterous in terms of their sonic progression. Dimmu Borgir has been diametric opposite, getting progressively worse every pile of shit they deem an "album". I'm just waiting for them to even further perfect their blatant plagiarism of Winds of Plague.

You seem to be arguing with that post who is better more than anyone. My 2 cents is that they're both good bands that have some great albums under their belt, but aren't as good as they used to be. Arguing which one is better is kinda pointless.

Midian is a great album, and so is this, but to imply that it's more poppy than Midian is pretty silly.

Also lol @ saying that they blatantly plagarize Winds Of Plague. It's exactly the other way around, guy.

I actually was hehe but in all reality I remember back in 04, the same topic was posted every other day on other forums I haunted. In any event your probably correct though my comment was more or less a derogatory one aiming for no real comparison, though in all actuality they sound incredibly similar. Both have incredibly simple riffing, and they both oversaturate their songs with shitty symphonic samples, Hollenthon both bands are not
