Oh sure, but I'd see Radiohead as an alt rock Floyd in some ways, they certainly have that status, rightly or wrongly. Hopefully you can see there's a better argument for them than for Lady Gaga, which is the point I was trying to make?

There isn't much of a point to make, other than the reviewer didn't listen to enough metal this week to write a review.

To me Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Lady Gaga are exactly the same as none of them are metal and I have zero interest in them. Metal is a way of life to me and I consider any other style of music to be blasphemy and I detest it.

What I think is funny is that Zad reviewed OK Computer less than a year ago and the comments were almost all positive.

That's why I felt like Radiohead "belongs" here.

Really? A few days ago I went to Soundwave with a gorgeous lady, checked out Dimmu Borgir, Slayer, and Iron Maiden. Then we went to a nearby metal club and partied till 3 AM. That really sucks doesn't it?

I have heard them heaps of times, by hanging around with people who like them. They aren't metal and I have no interest in them.

I remember that review, I commented on it, and my comment was not positive,

Believe it or not I'm 44. But I've been listening to metal since I was 14 in the midst of the NWOBHM. As a teen, I swore off all other kinds of music when I discovered bands like Venom, Anvil, Exciter, Witchfinder General, etc. And I've stuck with it ever since. I spend about $100-200/week adding to my 10,000+ collection of metal CDs. I never miss a metal show in my area, even when travelling overseas I check to see if any metal bands are playing. I like power, thrash, black, death, doom, prog metal (as long as it's heavy), all genres of metal. But metal only.

Isn't it odd that someone is getting flamed on a metal reviews forum, for having a passion for heavy metal?

It's hilarious.

Apparently you have to be "open minded."

But if you are "open minded" and like Korn and Limp Bizkit, you get slagged out by all these "open minded" people.

I once pretended to be a Nu-Metal kid on the Megadeth forums.

All of these "open minded" people who spent a lot of time defending why Load was good or why In Flames' new pop stuff is not selling out spent a lot of energy insulting my musical tastes.

I myself listen to Metal 95% of the time. Other 5% is when the wife gets a chance to commandeer the stereo or when I'm listening to hard rock ala Guns N Roses or Faith No More.

------------

For what it's worth, I don't mind non-metal reviews if the band was influential on metal but Radiohead has about as much influence on the genre as Britney Spears or the Mamas and the Papas.

Plus, Slayer canceled at Soundwave.

It has nothing to do with flaming you having a passion for heavy metal, it has to do with you feeling superior to others that don't only listen to metal.

Metal takes up 50% of my music. It takes up 100% of yours. It doesn't mean that you like metal more than me, it means that your tastes are more honed in. Nothing wrong with that. It doesn't make you less open minded for knowing what you like. It does however make you selfish to want everyone to cater to your tastes and your tastes only.

Slayer only cancelled Sydney. They're still playing at all other Soundwaves.

To clarify, I'd probably hate to be anyone but me, but I can't imagine intentionally limiting myself to one kind of music for the rest of my life. I mean, I love metal, and a vast majority of my collection is made up of it, but there's so much wonderful, beautiful music out there that "swearing off all other types of music" seems absolutely stupid to me, and I love music far too much to even consider doing that.

EDIT: But of course, I'm just speaking my mind. Do what you want, but it just kinda baffles me is all.
