And for the record, I listen to that stuff even when I'm not dancing. I just imagine that I am.
It's what makes you a doucher

Oh man that lady gaga lady. Alejandro or Telephone or Bad Romance...All uberfun to dance to.

This thread's certainly headed in a bizarre direction.

It's also strange cause I've been bagged out on these threads for listening to old crooners and ballroom dancing.

Such a great sidetrack from a metal thread.

Maybe I don't have enough time to listen to music anymore and thus find a ton of flaws with the current sounds, but while I place my favorite time for metal in the early to mid-90s I am content with the state of it now as well. Death metal seems to be in a better spot than its been in a while (been playing Mitochondrion constantly of late), Funeral Doom is hanging in there, Burzum is back, Moonsorrow just released another incredible album, and Anubis Gate & Blind Guardian provide me with enough power/prog contrast. While I continue to view the general evolution of black metal ambivalently that is basically my only concern.

The "fun to dance to" argument is dumb since anything with a steady beat is fun to dance to because dancing is fun.

Mitochondrion are from where I live! By that I mean I LIKED THEM WAY BEFORE THEY WERE INTERNET COOL.

I don't mind dancing to Kesha. Right now, I really really really enjoy dancing to Teenage Dreams by Katy Perry and Only Girl in the World by Rihanna. Fucking love that shit.

But seriously music isn't stagnant you just have to open your fucking eyes. Case in point, Scurrilous.

Those are my two favorite pop songs. Also my favorite metal album right now

I consider myself musically open minded. Besides classic rock, hard rock and other "metal related" genres, I also have HEAPS of prog rock and prog pop in my collection (as much as metal), I also have a lot of folk, and a lot of singer/songwriter stuff, and some electronic.

But kesha? I honestly don't even consider that music.

Massive, massive fail.

Agreed with you two. That talk/dance parody thing was far better than Kesha herself.

I feel exactly the same about Katy Perry. I also loath rihanna and lady gaga, though perhaps not quite so vehemently.

First of all I think there's a difference between a classic and something that ends up influencing a new genre or trend.

I would easily elect Bolt Thrower's Those Once Loyal as a classic album (though I guess it depends on how far you're looking back on "where are the classics") despite that they weren't exactly creating something totally new there. I actually do think that album and a few others sparked a renewed interest in old school death metal during the 2000s.
