We'll see. I for one, loved God's Equation, and I bet I'll learn to love this one as well.

God's Equation wasnt a bad album, it was actually pretty decent. The problem is that expectations at the time were just so damn high, because it doesnt hold a candle to Enigmatic Calling, much less Celestial Entrance. Heavenly Ecstasy does a better job of bridging that gap, but it is still restrained compared to those works.

For some reason I never got into Pagan's Mind and I'm a fan of prog/power combo bands.

I don't know I just don't see what is so special about these guys.

The guitarist for once is fucking mind-blowing. Listen to Enigmatic Calling for instance. I prefer his playing to Petrucci's post Images & Words playing any day.

Never got around to listening to God's Equation. I do love the previous two, so I might check out their more recent stuff. Seems like both albums got/are getting very mixed reactions though.

Up top! Lofstad isn't nearly as flashy as most guitarists in this subgenre, and the penalty for that is that he gets overlooked. I think he's a really terrific intuitive musician, and I'd love to see him get half the recognition Petrucci gets.

I can see why people don't like this album, but this album has so many fantastic moments! The opening 6-7 tracks are just fantastic!

Agreed, there are some great moments to be found.

I actually picked up the Limited Edition over the weekend and have been giving it another spin. I still feel the score matches my feelings on the album, but it is interesting to read the very well done liner notes, which gives the album a more personal touch.
