Hmmm...the new song was good, huh? Interesting. That song "Hostage" sounded like it had potential, hopefully QR can put together a killer album. The music can be different, as I have no doubt it will be—the band has even confirmed this opinion—but I want good songs! Plain and simple.

I saw them in Mohegan Sun on Saturday it was pretty cool. Halford at first was wearing a long coat and was walking really slow, it was pretty funny cause he reminded me of Dracula or something along those lines. The Electric Eye was extremely cool. Why does everyone love the song Metal Gods so much? I think it sucks. Queensryche didn't sound very interesting, although I never been a big fan.

Going to the show next Tuesday in Atlanta, GA. Not a bit Priest fan except for Halford's vocals, but LOVE the Ryche! Even more looking forward to it now that you say the early material is much more represented than the latter. Be my look they'll play only stuff from Q2K and Hear in the Now Frontier, yuck!

Q2K, Hear In The Now Frontier, and Tribe could never stand up against their older material, but separate those three albums from the rest and they're decent rock albums. Hit The Black, Sp00l, Right Side Of My Mind, Open, Sacred Ground are among many really, really good songs! Stack them up against songs like Deliverance, The Whisper, Prophecy, Roads To Madness and they're complete shit! Hehehe!

Kind of like Load and Reload by Metallica, good albums until you put them on shuffle with the rest of Metallica's albums (sans the crapfest that was St. Anger, of course).

I liked to add my opinion as I also atteneded this exact same show.

I saw Priest at the Docks in Toronto a couple years back on their Demolition Tour with Owens on vocals (of course) and I enjoyed it but it was nothing like this concert. Halford, plain and to the point, is the man. After the second song my friend turned to me and said, "man, it's just wasn't the same without Halford", and he was definitely right. Priest just had an aura about them that pumped up the entire crowd. Although I've atteneded a lot of concerts over the last 5 years this was my first out door, large stadium/ampitheater type of concert and I had seen nothing like it. Club concerts have their strong points too but the energy and intensity that comes from watching a band play with thousands and thousands of people screaming and head banging makes for a different experience than watching a band play in a dark club with maybe 300 hundred people. It was amazing and one of my favorite concerts experience.

The set list was solid, as they included some of the better tracks from the new CD as well, primarly the awesome Hellrider. I would have replaced Riding On The Wind with Metal Meltdown, Grinder, or Rapid Fire maybe... but oh well, at least they played Exciter which I don't remember them playing for a long time. The high point for me was probably Hellrider (I killed my neck on that one) and Breaking The Law... Painkiller was up there too though but my neck was already sore after Hellrider hehe. Amazing performance, great set, and excellent theatrics (interactive stage, Halford on the harley, Halford in different outfits etc).

It was also great to see entire families of priest fans, with 10 year olds rocking out in Priest gear... nice to see some youth aren't being corrupted by mtv and much music. Oh yeah, Queensryche was pretty cool too. Would have been nice if they played all of Queen Of The Reich instead of turning into a medley with Nightrider, but overall their set list was good as they stuck to mostly older material as Marty pointed out. The new song off of Operation Mindcrime II was actually not bad, excpet for what sounded like Tate almost trying to rap... or sing fast I haven't decided yet. Was a lot more upbeat and exciting than their material has been in a long time though. Lastly, Tate sounded amazing live and was a real pleasure to see.

Long live the Priest!
