Marduk is a fucking awesome band that's been around for 20 years and still hasn't sold out or compromised their sound.

you can't tell me that song sucks.

oh and for the record I think Vektor was playing the same night that the Marduk concert was, which is why no one showed up.
Marduk's awesomeness should've outshined Vektor. Marduk just doesn't do it for me. The song doesn't suck but it interests me in no way shape or form.

And that's a surprise to you generally speaking, hardcore scenes are tightly knit associations there pal, not something that can drag the legions of weekend warrior metalheads to a local venue. Marduk have played festivals that dwarf local hxc house shows, not that I hate hardcore or house shows mind you.

Which is about ten more people than show up as opposed to the shitty crust bands you like.
I actually think the unsigned hardcore bands I listen to in my local scene bring in around 30 people at house shows or concrete basements under stores. What does that say about Marduk?

It says that Americans generally have shitty taste.

Indeed. Why would Hammerfall want to come here and play to 400 people at glorified bar with a stage and do maybe 6 dates @ MAYBE 2500 a show, between 5 guys and a crew. That's why we don't get any good bands, because the whole fanbase is on another continent that is geographically compacted. even 25K albums sold in the US is stretched a bit thin when you divide that against 300 million people. (+ Canada?)

I'm pretty surprised that Metal hasn't all-out become regional with a few bands representing their sub-genre and country. I think every Power Metal fan in the US knew the deal going in. A regional band from Italy or Sweden is not likely to ever come within 2000 miles of you, so accept the fact that the concert scene is dead or move to Europe. I really can't believe people expect bands to lose money to come to America and play in front of 100 people. That's why you see so many festivals. There aren't 5000 people that want to see Testament anywhere in the US, but get the thousand that do wanna see them and bill them with another band that only 1000 people wanna see, until you are throwing on anyone that will draw 50 people and basically play for free.

You know what ? Screw the map. I'll just keep the lesbians and I'll entitle the thing "Lesbians in flames".

Metallica have been trend followers for the most part. Between 83-88, thrash was pretty popular, so they played thrash, by '91, grunge was gaining popularity, so they released the black album, by 96, alternative rock was popular, so they released Load/Reload, in 2003, nu metal/ mallcore and no solos was popular, so they released St. Anger and there seems to be a thrash revival since the past couple of years, so they released Death Magnetic. Death Magnetic did seem forced at times, but it was still a good album. I never thought I would say it, but I like Death Magnetic more than United Abominations. This band is still capable of releasing good albums, so I think they will. But it depends on what the trend is at that time since they are most likely to release something that is the "in thing".
