That's what I always assumed and what everyone told me. I've given it tons of chances but it just never clicks.

Is it the blast beats?

Never really got into Isis - Oceanic or Panopticon even though I love most of the bands they are grouped with.

It's a really long list that is more easily replaceable by classic bands I could never get into.

E.g.

Judas Priest
Napalm Death - always found them somewhat average.
Any Black Metal be it Darkthrone, Immortal, Satyricon, Emperor etc.
Behemoth - great live but musically they're boring (same applies to a ton of Tech Death).
Metallica - Black album
Dream Theatre's awful ballads that permeate their albums
Most Devin Townsend
Cannibal Corpse/Deicide - Yawn!

DISCLAIMER: I don't deny their greatness or their influence on metal. I'm just personally not a fan.

Agreed with most Cannibal Corpse.

Anthrax, Exodus and Dark Angel never did much for me.

I can't seem to enjoy Morbid Angel more than a couple of songs per album, which is strange because I really like Immolation, Nile, Mithras, Behemoth and other bands that are considered heavily influenced by MA. I gave MA tons of chances, something just doesn't click.

Cathedral. I recognise there is something really good inthere, but in the end they always make me very bored.

Running Wild. I like them in small doses but usually can't make it through a full album (or if I do I stop paying attention 3 songs into it).

Devin Townsend. I dislike this guy's music so much. I find it amazing so many praise him. Weird!

Nope, that's not it. I'm into a lot of death metal so I love blast beats if used properly. I'll give Altars of Madness another shot this week, just out of curiosity.

Anything by Kamelot. Typical power metal, most would have you believe its classic. Really the only band I get annoyed by and mostly because of the fans.

That's a quirky reason for not liking a band. Ok you don't like the music that's one thing but not liking a band because of the fans is another.

Who gives a fuck what fans think. If I don't like a band it's because I don't like their music or the way they sound not because some elitist fans opinions.

They are pretty boring and nothing special. I could have worded that differently, but I didn't, so suck my toe hair. With their singer gone they might actually be good now.

Two albums quickly come to mind.

Entombed - Clandestine. I dunno if it is considered a classic, but I never found anything appealing in that album.

Metallica - Kill 'Em All. Excellent musicmanship, but terrible songs. I just can't stand Hetfield screaming "Hit the liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiights." and his laughable "OH YEAH YEAH" in the Four Horseman. The rest of the songs aren't even the type I would play in the background. Boring shit.

As for other classic albums, I cannot think of any that did nothing for me. For example, MOP. I like that album, I just don't think of it as highly as most who consider it a classic do. Even Anthrax, I don't like most of their stuff, but do like them in bits and pieces. So, I don't think they qualify since the topic in this thread is about albums that do absolutely nothing for you.

Yeah, I never cared much for Entombed either. Exodus also have been a hit or miss band for me, with Bonded by blood having some nice riffs but Baloffs vocals ruining the album. Pleasures of the flesh is pretty sick from what I've heard

Agreed on the Bonded by Blood sentiment. Tempo of the damned however is a great metal album.

Covenant has some really good songs like Angel of Disease, World of Shit, Rapture but overall doesn't compare to Altars of Madness.
