OUCH! For someone like myself that hasn't really listened to the other bands you mentioned (aside from Dimmu Borgir), I think this is a really good release. I'd give it a score somewhere in the 70's or low 80's.

I like the lineup a bit too much not to check this out. We'll see what happens.

It's like they merged the music of Gorgoroth with the vocals of Captain Dino Burger himself, Shagrath... As stated in the review. And Frost seems to just be going through the motions.

It's alright. I'll hang on to it. Maybe they'll do a bit more on a future album, but this is fairly mediocre stuff.

I'd say it's more like a 65/100 tops. It's nothing to hate on but nothing to jump at, either.

Even though I thoroughly enjoy Gorgoroth I'll give this album a pass. It reeks of tackiness and besides I don't really have time for mediocre Black Metal. In fact I don't really think it exists. If a BM album does not achieve what it set out to then it usually goes directly from relevant to purposeless (and comical) without any middle ground. On top of that Shagrath tends to sound like Popeye the Sailor when he attempts his evil vocals.

Well written review. Although the material (I believe) deserves much more than something in the 40's, it still is sub-par compared to what it could and should have been. I don't like the way it was mixed, and without Gaahl, King kind of misses out on some of the mysteriousness and power that is present in the last Gorgoroth album, specifically in songs like Prosperity and Beauty.

Although the latest Gorgoroth album is more interesting, I would say that both of the releases are sub-par and only worth a listen or two. Maybe 10 years ago this would have been more exciting stuff to listen to, but there's just too many other good albums to listen to these days. Hopefully, the next Gorgoroth/King/etc. albums are better.

I've listened to this album about 15- 20 times now over the past couple weeks and I think it deserves about a 75 or 80. Everything about it is solid and it has some great riffs. Really good vocals by Shagrath. King ov hell is a good songwriter. Frost's drumming is solid and fits the music perfectly.

At first this album sounded bland as fuck though, you need to be in a certain mood for it I guess. The production is really dull and doesn't have that really loud catching tone like the two Gorgoroth albums King Ov Hell worked the most on (Ad Majorem and Twilight of the Idols.)

Overall it's just a dark album with some really good riffs and is just solid all the way through. There isn't a bad song on the album.

My favorite tracks are Invoker and Acts of Sin.

I still listen to tracks off this record and this record is phenomenal. The bass drop on Invoker is the most epic bass drop ever recorded and this is not just some gimmick super group record. No way in hell this deserves a 49/100.
