Charles Lance is indeed a badass. Almost makes the Lannisters likeable!

Ho, I have a question to those who read the book. Can I start directly at the 2nd book or will I be missing some elements to fully comprehend it?

Go ahead and start with the first book. The main difference between the books and the show is that each chapter in the book is told from a characters POV (Sansa, Rob, Cat, etc...). The one thing that the show could not capture was the thoughts relayed in the books by characters because you are hearing their thoughts. This is especially true for Catylin, who in the show comes off as foolish making one mistake after another, but in the books you are shown how her thought process works, and it makes more sense why she does what she was, despite the consequences.

Carice van Houten was quite good in Black Book, only thing I think I've seen her in. Stephen Dillane's got the sort of face I recognise from countless British things, but I couldn't name any for the life of me. Apparently Liam Cunningham's going to play Davos, the onion knight, which is great news.

Call me what you will, but except for the Wall and the (SPOILER, FOO' !!!!) 3 baby dragons, I didn't see a damned thing. I love living in 2011.
