I was starting to get interested until I read

"built around a young female vocalist"

She's awesome. Her voice makes the album.

Of course not. I just can't imagine a Doom album with female vocals. It's like Children of the Grave sang by Doro :P

I'm very picky about female vocalists in Metal.

WT is Gothic for me (oh fuck this genre thing again). When I think in Doom, 70's Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Scald, Doomsword and Solitude Aeternus comes to mind.

Anyway, I'll give it a listen, who knows, maybe I'll like it. If not, I would return and bash the album 'til death.

"Bitch Metal" ?! Those doubting that teh wimminz can doom with the best of them should check out Subrosa, ably reviewed in these pages by Carlosand yours truly.

Not heard this band, planning to change that.

Actually "Bitch metal" comes from a friend of mine (a girl!) who call all these female-fronted pseudo-gothic bands like that. It's kind of accurate.

It's harsh, sexist and anti-fun, is what it is. Someone who listens to as much music as you shouldn't discriminate against catchy music from this decade whilst simultaneously worshipping catchy music from previous decades. Listener enjoyment is all that matters. Said 'bitches' are doing very well, better than most power metal bands at their game.

However, I suppose that all this really proves is that you have odd friends.

We have Lady Gaga for funny catchy bitch music. I've to admit I like Nightwish's Oceanborn a lot, but WT is boring and unmetal.

Glad to see this getting viewed; I always enjoy writing up unsigned or unknown bands with good albums here, as I did with Heathen Beast and Zergoth, in the hopes of getting them some fans. Anyone checked this out yet?
