I heard on the radio that when the House overwhelmingly stopped Obama's proposal for the Libya Occupation, that he went over to the Council on Foreign Relations and got some approval in contrast to the lack of approval by our congress. If thats not impeachable then I'm not sure what is...

And now the Frenchies are supplying the rebels with "defensive" arms.

Maybe the Russians and Chinese could provide some decent SAM's to the Libyans.

After all SAMs are completely defensive weapons (unlike dual use assault rifles, machine guns and missile launchers).

It actually would be completely legal under the NATO interpretation of the UN resolutions:

1. Defensive weapons are ok of they're used to protect civilians.
2. NATO has killed civilians. As the UN resolution is about protecting civilians, it's ok for Libyan SAMs to blow NATO jets out of the sky over Tripoli.
3. Furthermore as there is no official declaration of war and NATO jets could be viewed as mercenary elements (they're working for the rebels by providing air support), it's perfectly legal to torture shot down pilots, kill them and drag their bodies through the streets Mogadishu style.

Gaddafi was stupid in dismantling his WMD program and not updating his Air Defence network (basically it was not only outdated Sovet 1970s rubbish, it was also not operational).

He had the money for both.

The WMD program is a deterrent. With Libya's location, even shorter range missiles would be in range of Italy. The threat of gassing Palermo would've been enough to deter NATO (hence they just posture against Iran).

Investing in latest Russian and Chinese SAM's would allow you some sort of chance of taking out NATO planes.

Westerners don't like pictures of their troops being paraded around or of piles of scrap that used to be expensive warplanes.

I hope the other dictators of the world are watching. Better a stable dictatorship than a civil war. I learned that one in 1991.

So... it seems the maid was a filthy little scumbag after all. The joke cost DSK the IMF AND the French Presidency. Far too heavy a toll for nailing some random cunt if you ask me. Worst. Deal. Ever.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that just because you're an illegal immigrant with criminal links doesn't mean you can't be raped. The defence case was always going to focus on her credibility - no surprise that they've turned some nastyness up. DSK was always going to fall hard from his lofty position, and probably won't be able to climb back up again. Criminal proceedings against the woman should be undertaken if it turns out she was lying - but this doesn't prove her guilt.

You're right, this doesn't prove she lied about the assault. I am still mourning the loss of a man who could have been a great president for my country.

But she *probably* lied, as she apparently lied for many other things.

Frankly, I'm not surprised. You're the head of the IMF, if you want to get your rocks off with an illegal Guinean there's got to be better ways of doing so than assaulting someone.

Given that our elected officials are a pack of eunuchs, nothing will be done.
Besides, differences across the aisle aside, for the most part, they are in on the scam, as well.

Thats exactly what someone else said, and what was funny was that the resolution passed ironically even without the resolution passing as he still got funding. Its gotten to the point where corruption isn't even conducted in backrooms, as they can openly get away with it even though its blatantly unconstitutional.

It really is a shame.

It's hard to see how the poor sod will last long. He already annoyed the Labour centrists by running against his brother and winning on the union vote, and he's annoyed them now by calling these strikes 'wrong', etc. Naturally, Tories and Liberals love him and want him to stay in the job as long as possible!

Labour needs to go back to basics. They went too far to the center/right with Blair and Brown, now's the time for a charismatic socialist to take over.
I wonder if labour has it in "stock"...

Not sure there are any genuine socialists left in Labour, let alone charismatic ones! A socialist Labour party would crash and burn even quicker... not what the country wants, or needs.
