Love it. And I generally don't buy into his ambient work.

Agreed. This is about as subtle of an album as you can get, but I can't say that I don't enjoy every minute of it.

Deconstruction is a whips and chains buttfucking. This is the cigarette afterwards.

Agreed, nice analogy.

I think this may be my favorite of the 4 albums. And the title track Ghost is the catchiest thing I have ever heard and now one of my all time favorite Devy tracks.. 72 seems a little low but I can see why someone may not like this as much as I do.

I think the structures of the songs are great, not to mention their contribution to the structure of the album as a whole.

I can see where people would rate the album higher, since it is a very personal album that connects at an emotional level. I took time and mutiple listens to decide where to rate it, and ultimately decided that it wasnt up there with other albums of the same vein that serve the same purpose. With that said, I consider 70's to be a very good score as I try to keep my ratings scaled back a bit.

I've always been a fan of his ambient stuff. So this really makes me excited.

This is a beautiful album to listen to when sitting outside with a glass of wine at sunset. I'm sure that's what it's kinda for anyway, so I guess I give it a thumbs up for what it is. I prefer more upbeat stuff for everyday listening though. To be honest, that super overproduced sound of Devin's is getting a little old to me. I would like to see him do something a little more organic sometime. I bet it would be kick ass.

Yeah. Hope he does more albums with production along the lines of Ki.

I enjoyed the hell out of Ki, probably my favorite of the four.

i originally felt like Cory did, that it all blended together. but after a good dozen listens the songs really came into their own. i know that it says "does not apply" for killing songs, but I would say that Feater, Ghost, Blackberry, Texada, and Come as You Were all stick out and make themselves known. I think that this will be a grower of an album and one that I will return to often. I do not listen to a lot of exclusively soft music, but the stuff I do have I pump extremely regularly.

I put this album alongside The Velvet Underground and Nico, The Beatles - Revolver, Lisa Hannigan - Sea Sew, and Radiohead's - Ok Computer for albums that I can listen to at any time that I need to slow down my breath and just cool down.

Heart Baby gets me every time. The choir-y part at the end that it builds up to makes my skin tingly.

This is the first time I don't enjoy an album coming from Devin Townsend.
I'm aging.

Heard this last night for the first time. Everything he does is gold. I'm on the verge of calling this one of his best.

Checking what "curmudgeon" means... Hmm... Okay : IT AIN'T SO.

:)

But really, three listens, and I just can't get into this album. I'll keep trying.
