I don't care about your t-shirt, but as for the parades vs. shitty metal gigs thing, the difference is you actually have to pay for the latter. That is to say, you have to show the willingness to see that kind of crap. Parades are for anyone to see.
And it's not about being conservative or not, it's mainly about doing something which makes sense. Showing your ass in a parade doesn't make any. It is just laughable, and doesn't serve the cause. It doesn't do justice to people who suffer from discrimination.

Can't you fucking look the other way if the sight is so displeasing? Damnit, you know as well as I do that discrimination against the gay/lesbian/transgender community is still very much alive, in certain countries you can be executed for liking your sex with one of your kind. Those parades are a cry of pride and the revendication that one's sexuality shouldn't determine his will. I want to see buttnaked jocks in Teheran, Moscow, Vatican... Bring it on, bitches!

Well you ccoouuulllddd, but it is still indecent exposure. I mean, why can't i walk downtown with my girlfriend, both of us naked and fucking on a public street? If we are exhibitionists, people can just look the other way or cover their ears / turn up their ipod as she starts moaning. Would that not be my right as an exhibitionist, as someone who must have sex with other people around to get off? If we can have parades with peoples' ass / dick hanging around, why can't we have parades where other people are doing things to their ass / dick?

Well, who doesn't ?
Anyway, end of discussion for me. I'm only grumpy because lesbians seldom show their asses, at least not as often as gay dudes do. That makes me sad.

We listen to bands that crucified hookers on stage, soaking them in blood and smearing animal meat on them, i.e., Gorgoroth, who the fuck are we to judge if they run around with their dick in a sock, like RHCP did for a whole tour, no?

For listening to extreme metal, you fucks are conservative.

And thanks for the kudos, kids who said props.
Well those bands are artists, and those things are done within the context of performing their art. Being obnoxiously anything isn't a good way to win support. I mean, look at the civil rights movement of the 50's & 60's. African Americans as a whole had a totally different approach with their demonstrations than these kind of LGBT parades.

Gays exist and they aren't going away, but discrimination against gays exists and isn't going away either no matter how many laws are changed or how many parades you hold. Both are very deep seated and go to the heart of what the human race is.

Obviously comparing a privately viewed show to a public event is silly.
If homos want to make themselves look like deviants and weirdos, than they have nobody but themselves to blame when they are met with rejection. I find it very difficult to grant an iota of serious consideration to whatever it is they are marching around for in the face of grown men and women walking around like some kind of BDSM shop exploded all over the place.
It's a joke, and only ensures that they will be even further marginalized.

Explain, please.
Unless, of course you are suggesting that walking around dressed as a giant dildo is going to make people more accepting.

Sexuality is everywhere. Magazine covers with half naked chicks making suggestive faces, commercials full of innuendo, some of those t-shirts trapt mentioned-- it just seems a bit silly that when some homo-sexuality is put in public, it's suddenly the worst thing ever what will the children think.

As far as the if/then statement goes, it sounds like you're saying that gays are met with discrimination because of the parades, which, as I'm sure you know, is certainly not the case.

First, magazines featuring nudity are covered where they are sold (at least the parts that are deemed to be kept from the eyes of minors; it's the law), commercial innuendo is not the same as the blatant sexuality found at any given gay parade, and walking around with a banner / t-shirt / whatever proclaiming "I love pussy" is no less tacky than the other, and frankly I have yet to see anything of the kind.

Second, I am not saying that acting like the worst caricatures out there and fueling all the negative stereotypes used to marginalize them is the root of it all. I am saying it does nothing to turn things around, that it is not looked upon by most people as something that is acceptable and that by acting basically like hormone-driven clowns they have no one but themselves to blame when society at large shuns them.

So, do you think that dressing like a bunch of BDSM weirdos and bumping and grinding your way down the street (public street, I might add) in leather assless chaps is something that is helpful, or a hindrance?
I can tell you right now, that most people look upon such displays with distaste.

Wearing a shirt that says i <3 cocks reinforces negative stereotypes that what? Gay men like dick? There are so many, so many trashy shirts you can buy at the mall for heterosexual boys with sexual innuendo about getting drunk and fucking being marketed to kids. "Rub me for good luck" is one that comes to mind. How is it any different?

I understand that the I <3 cocks shirt is a basis for promoting gay pride and I have absolutely no problem with that. However, here in the midwest, many conservatives are wrongly under the impression that all homosexuals are sexually promiscuous. This is where a lot of hatred spawns from - straight men believe that all homosexuals will attempt to hit on them, which is ludicrous, and a shirt like that would only fan the flamesno pun intended. Perhaps things are different where you live.

Not sure what you mean by this .. are you suggesting that psychologists have a meaningful effect on the world?

If you're a cock jockey, maybe.
Or like supporting your friends.

I've been unfortunate enough to have seen one of these events in the Bay Area... it was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen... men walking around with nothing but a sock over the wang, people in assless chaps, people on leashes... how in the world is anybody supposed to take that shit seriously?

I (and most people) don't care what two adults do in their own bedroom, but this militant, inyourfuckingface we're here, we're queer bullshit is lame, and really just puts people off.

I mean walking around with a shirt that states "I love cocks"? Really?
Tasteless and vulgar.

Straight parades, I <3 pussy yea let me tell everyone because I want attention.

No amount of attention will dissuade people from believing queering/faggotry is a choice, especially when they choose to flaunt it so flamboyantly like in those parades.
