Thanks Goat for a fine review. I listen to that ep pretty frequently but I neglect the demo far more than I should--I'll have to spin it again now.

They never released a bad album. Not one.

This version of I am the Black Wizards is even better than the later one. One of the best bm songs of all time.

I listen to a lot of Emperor at work, and its easy to recognize a song by them- as it always sounds like the apocalypse is coming out of your ear drums. Great band

Emperor is a band that progressed beautifully as time passed by. Top three bands of all time for me. Astonishing band. Prometheus and Anthems are always on my play-list no matter what.

Emperor Is my all time Favorite band. Every one of their albums is pure genius. I can die happy knowing that I got to meet and see them during their '07 reunion tour.

I wondered about making it a classic, but a compilation didn't really seem to fit the requirements - nor did the demo or EP individually.

Haven't heard this and know I should fix that.

Well, don't expect anything along the lines of their later output, especially on the demo.

Right. The ep certainly is close to the Nightside sound though.

Well, sort of. There is a major difference in guitar tone (much fuzzier), the synth lines are more basic and the overall production is murkier and more bottom heavy.

I (sometimes) prefer the ep versions of Cosmic Keys... and I Am The Black Wizards, though.

Closer to Nightside than the demo is, anyway. I really enjoy hearing both versions of those two like you. And also the As the Shadow's Rise ep with the remake of a couple of the demo's tracks (like Ancient Queen) is another one I sometimes forgot.

Speaking of the demo, I forgot how incredibly heave Witches Sabbath was. :dio: :dio:

True.
The demo is actually quite raw compared to everything else Emperor has released.
