It's more the money than internationals that ruins football. Of course, international markets are what gets the most amounts of money in football in the first place...

it just makes me want to cry when i see some shitty Brazilian or Argentinean player wearing my club's shirt, and i ask myself, couldn't we get some Portuguese kid to do this shit?

Portugal won the 1989 and 1991 youth world cups. the 1991 team is the most famous... here's the line-up:
Fernando BRASSARD (GK)
GIL
LUIS FIGO
PEIXE
RUI COSTA
JORGE COSTA

PAULO TORRES
NELSON (-9')
RUI BENTO
JOAO PINTO (C)
TONI
Substitute(s)
ABEL XAVIER
LUIS MIGUEL
TO FERREIRA
CAPUCHO (+70')
TULIPA (+9')(-70')
CAO
JOAO PINTO II

the ones in bold became notable names of the game or at least made a mark on the Portuguese league. bet you never even heard about the rest of them.

France 0 - Portugal 2

See Azrael ? We suck. I only watched the second half so I missed both goals. I watched Barcelona - Real Madrid on the other hand : awesome.

Really wish I washed more football. So damn good. I need a club to root for, though...I root for Barca by default since I own a jersey, but everyone seems to follow Premier League.

get a Chilean club for starters lol.

didn't catch the Barça match but it looks like it was excellent. it's going to be a good year for the Barça x Real rivalry, they really stepped their game and even their attitudes up, judging from the first leg.

I don't know how Portugal beat France lol. i guess it's a bit like Greece in 2004. terrible football but very solid teamwork and defensive work. now Brazil!

So damn good, well, it depends. There are lots of boring games to be honest. But if you want to see some quality football, a safe bet is to follow Real Madrid and/or Barca games every week-end. Premier League is nice, but somehow I enjoy the Liga more.

You could follow the MLS. It's becoming ever more acceptable. New York Red Bulls just won a cup as well!
Otherwise yeah, pick a Premier League team, and if you want some real fun, pick an Old Firm team to follow. I recommend anything apart from Rangers.

why not? i wouldn't, but i'm not American. leagues like theirs can only truly prosper if they have support, and it sure as hell won't come from European fans.

Following it is alright, I myself follow the French championship even though it's shit. But I don't actually *watch* the games, I have too much self-esteem for that.

I watch Real Madrid and Barca games, Premier League big games (Man U - Liverpool, Chelsea - Arsenal and the likes..), and of course the Champions League. And that's it. That way, I'm (almost) sure to watch quality football.

I also watch the national team games, despite their atrociousness. And Euros and World Cups, but that goes without saying.

edit: Anyway, my point is, if you have to waste an hour and a half watching a game, make it a good one. Don't you agree ?

If you consider watching football a waste of time. I try to watch as many Aberdeen games as I can, and we're atrocious.

No, don't get me wrong: watching your team's games is more than fine. But if, like heatseeker said, you don't have a team to root for... well either you find a team, or you watch the best of the best. I chose the latter (although I like Paris Saint-Germain because I'm from there).

La Liga is on strike, no games this week-end. Those millionaires are really starting to piss me off.

Olympique Lyonnais just qualified for their 12th Champions League in a row. Not bad. They won't win it, but not bad at all.

When was the last time a French team won the Champions League?

1993, Olympique de Marseille. 1-0 against AC Milan, Basile Boli scored. That was the last and only time a French team won the C1.

*sigh of despair*

What do you think French football needs to compete with the leagues in Spain, Italy and England?
