This is a bit formulaic but entertaining none the less. The rate is obviously way too high but it's a solid 80 something. Good cheese!

I like this and yes it's good but i agree with the Frenchmen that it's rated too high. Something in the 80-85 range is more fitting. There are also other power/symphonic metal albums that are better this year , most notabely the new Wizard , Serenity imho.

That said it's still worth checking out no doubt about that

Seeing these reviews from Chris makes me really nostalgic. His reviews are what got me into power metal. Other than the latest Fairyland album I haven't found any good PM in months, so I'll definitely check this out.

I felt nostalgic writing a review ... he he. I wish I had more time to be more constant but its a really tough time lately.

I would suggest you should also check their previous album which is their strongest (though like I said this one is almost as good), Bible Of the Beast is 96-97 in my book, one ultimate power metal release from beginning to end, something rare to find lately. I will try reviewing it as an archive (hopefully) soon. I have other bands I want to review, like BlackGuard (excellent melodeath from Canada).

Cheers,
Chris

All of their albums are fantastic! I love their power metal approach mixed with some gothic stuff! It's very supernatural and divine!

Thanks that's the adjective I was looking for, can't believe I didn't find it (Supernatural) being a fan of the TV series Supernatual :) .

It is indeed Supernatural...

Thx
Chris

This thing is so blood-centered it is hilarious. Enjoyable album though. 80, or something.

I'll calm down when I'm dead, and I couldn't care less about the image of the average Frenchie metalhead. :P

Had I the chance to see you displaying your abilities at ridicule at Le Petit Journal?

I'm afraid I don't know what or who you're talking about, as I don't watch TV. :)

The gothic vibe reminds me quite a bit of Heavenly's Dust to Dust album (most underrated power metal record ever, basically). I dig it. Nice to see you writing again Chris. :dio:

Care to elaborate ? I don't see what reminds you of Dust to Dust. I agree on the "most underrated PM record" part, though. It would be a classic with another singer.

Ben's voice fits perfectly. I've always loved Heavenly since I heard Coming from the Sky. Most of my (mexican metal)friends love 'em too.

Most of my (French metal) friends think they are far beyond gay. But don't worry, I hate my friends. And let's not jack this Powerwolf thread.

Powerwolf. What a STUPID name for a band. I wouldn't even name a wolf Powerwolf.

Most definitely not underrated by us though :), if memory serves I gave it 98 and AotY :). But to the rest of the world I agree, it's a Theater of Salvation meets Vain Glory Opera with a pinch of gothic and heavenly's touch and it's D-I-V-I-N-E ! Too bad not many people appreciate Dust to Dust for the fucking masterpiece it is.

Bible of the Beast reminds me of Dust to Dust even more, the quote will also be somewhat similar as I believe Bible of the Beast is one of the cornerstone of Power Metal of the last decade... I'm sure many will disagree but that's what opinions are for :).

Thanks. I'm not fully back, I just have to find time to write some reviews more often. I have the new Dragonfly, Bible of the Beast and a few other Spanish power metal acts (Dragonslayer) I want to review next.

Take care,
Chris
