Been following some of the World Cup scores. What the fuck is Portugal doing in the world cup? 108 - 13?!!

And England need to start packin their bags.

Well Italy did like shit against New Zealand too, but that's ok, they are inhuman.

I think it's best they reduce the number of teams competing, allowing only the elite to reach the finals. It would avoid weaker teams being humilated. I really feel sorry for the weaker teams although it's an honour reaching the finals.

I wish I could watch. Alas, even if I owned a tv, they don't show rugby on American television.

Wales did reasonably well against Australia. Only lost by 12 points, which I thought was respectable.

dude, fuck you, Portugal is the only amateur team in the World Cup and the mere fact that they're there is good enough!

Japan are pros and they seem as crappy or even crappier than portugal.

England are a shame considering they're the defending champions. The Springboks are an equally tough team as well, but couldn't they at least scored a try....at least 1? It's quite clear both their defence and attacking are in shambles. ANd I was actually supporting them. I think I'll switch back to the All Blacks from now on. Or maybe Portugal, being underdogs (I didn't know they were amateur before this, Az).

lol, it's cool.

Portugal has only got one match with a chance to win - versus Romania, and even then it'll be hard as fuck because a few of them play on the French league, not to mention that they're our last match, which means half of the team will probably be dead by the time we meet them :P

go for the all blacks, i'm not a rugby fan but hot damn to they look unstoppable.

They were great in the second half but the Aussies were too srong for us in the first. Jenkins isn't the best coach we have had, bring back Mike Ruddock I say, but the players should be up for the games and stop making stupid mistakes. I take hope from that 2nd half performance and would settle for the Quaters as always, but after the grandslam of '05 I just think of what could have been if this was held two years ago.

As for the other home nations.

1) At least we're not England
2) The Irish have really let me down as I thought they'ed be the most likely from this hemisphere to win it
3) C'mon the Scots! They've no chance but As long as all of our celtic cousins get past the group stages I'd be happy.
4) I don't hate the English, but the sooner they're out the better. I actually supported them in the last world cup final, but for all their resources they are just an embarassment to the decent team they were years ago.

Great to see Wales get it together for the most part against the minnows, Japan, yesterday - it makes a big difference!

Fiji next, but it should be ok as long as we mark their quick and counterattacking backs well. Bring on the South Africans!!!

Didn't we get slaughtered by SA 93-13 or something like that?

 Not for a while, but this will be our potential Quater final. After seeing Tonga nearly do SA, I'm a lot more positive. As long as we run at them, we've got a chance.

To show my support for the boys (and to keep playing with my webcam!)...

C'MON THE BOYOS!!!

No, but a friend of mine did, as he plays for the Cardiff Blues these days.

(Was about to start a thread, but then saw this one already existed, so...)

I can't sleep and the match between Scotland and Romania is about to begin, so I'm going to watch it. Any care for rugby, or as with cycling I'm the only one interested in it ?

edit: Hmm we're talking of 4-year necromancy here, so I guess I have my answer.

Left the pub at half time when Scotland were dominating, when I got in the taxi Romania had pulled the advantage. Fuck off.

Yes, shitty display from Scotland until the 72nd minute. But they eventually manage to get the victory and the bonus. Quarter-final qualification is going to be... tough.
