I wouldn't call this album a surprise, because the last album was really good. It seems this guys are on a creative stream, I feel like only some months ago I was listening and enjoying Desert Call.

I'll listen asap :dio:

To me it was a surprise as I was not familiar with them before.

Great review and I agree with the score. However, as an Arab I personally see the roots here as leaning more towards an Arabian sound as opposed to an ethnic Jewish sound of Orphaned Land. Its quite hard to spot the difference but the overall structure of the music is very different although the instruments are similar.

If I had to compare id say Arkan and Myrath are the only two bands I know that play metal with really strong Arabian influences.

Thanks for providing a valuable ethnic perspective that many (most) of us lack. The two, Myrath and Orphaned Land, will make for a great tour pair.
(RedHawk = Miami of OH?)

I very rarely listen to this type of prog metal these days but I liked these guys' last album, so I'll probably check this out eventually. Good band.

@RedHawk: where are you from? And how popular is metal over there?

Very nice. I'm impressed with Myrath. The arabian musical overtones prove to be a very nice infusion with the rest of the music. Right now you can get this album for $5.99 over at iTunes.

Another great album from this awesome band, along with Arch/Matheos my two favourite prog/metal releases of the year.
