What about the new Vader? Best they've done in a while. Easily one of my favs from 2011.

Indeed. It didn't receive enough attention. It's a killer album.

New Cloudkicker is indeed one of the best albums I've heard this year. Both of them really.

In a somewhat semblance of an order, my year's top 15 list.

Protest the Hero - Scurrilous
Trapped Under Ice - Big Kiss Goodnight
Anb/Despise You - And On and On…
Altar of Plagues - Mammal
Origin - Entity
Benighted - Asylum Cave
Young Widows - In and Out of Youth and Lightness
Indian - Guiltless
Ash Borer - s/t
Cloud Rat - s/t
Trap Them - Darker Handcraft
iwrestledabearonce - Ruining It For Everybody
Red Fang - Murder the Mountains

I need to give Panopticon's Social Disservice and Leviathan's True Traitor, True Whore more listens but they deserve the mention.

Re-recordings can qualify for a 'best albums of the year' poll? Odd.

It's a re-recording? News to me. I knew some songs were towards the end, but I didn't think the whole thing was.

PTH probably gonna be #1 for me too, and Young Widows probably making my top ten. Altar of Plagues probably deserves checking out...

How's the new iwrestledabearonce? Never listened to it.

I dig it. Different than the last by a bit. I love a lot of the tracks but the other ones kinda fade in the background where the first album each song was pretty decent.

Get on the Indians album (guy from WITTR and guys from other bands doing sludgy doom), the Cloud Rat is an intense 17 minutes of grind you might like, Ash Borer is your type of usbm, and Altar is amazing.

Oh, and everyone should check out Trapped Under Ice. Sick is shit.

As bizarre as it may seem, my top album of the year has to be Anthrax's Worship Music.

2nd would be Blunt Force Trauma by Cavalera Conspiracy.

Only other 2011 plated CDs I brought this year were Iced Earth and Megadeth.

I heard new Opeth which was pretty shit and the new Mastodon which was "meh who cares, it's not Leviathan."

I have Indians, hasn't hooked me but I need to give it a proper listen. Cloud Rat and Trapped Under Ice are real intriguing. THANKS MAN

but p.s. no PJ Harvey or Touche Amore?

I'm probably gonna wait until the end of the year to post my topsies. For music as a whole, 2011 has been real good, although it's also the first year that I've really followed the year in music with such a feverish obsession. Probably not good for my overall well-being, but fuck it.

Drop iwabo from my list and add Touche. And the PJ Harvey album didn't grab me this year. But I do enjoy it.

Ash Borer - s/t
Krallice - Diotima
Altar of Plagues - Mammal
Immolation - Providence
Origin - Entity
Hate Eternal - Phoenix Amongst the Ashes
Cloudkicker - Let Yourself Be Huge
Cloudkicker - Loop
Benighted - Asylum Cave

I'm sure I'm missing some, will probably have to edit more in later. For some reason there was a stupid amount of good USBM this year.

Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Not a re-recording but only a few of the songs are.
