Hell no I'm not. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjJISr_tiQY

And replace Megadeth with Indian and HoF was kinda a bogus addition, given that I haven't listened to them recently. Probably ANb would fit there.

Add Hellhammer to my list. I've been enjoying them a lot recently.

Always fun to list this stuff and see where your tastes are at this point.

Not doing this in order and limiting myself to metal...

Windir
Limbonic Art
Abigor
Summoning
Drudkh
Rotting Christ

Akercocke

Still love Opeth and Morbid Angel of course, but I'm really mad at the latter and sorta annoyed with the former.

Thanks to emperor's list I also have to add Summoning and Drudkh (how could I ever forget those two!). I realize it's much more than the "top 20" but I've never been a fan of form and numbers that much.

La Dispute (Whenever I have time to listen to music I have a hard time thinking of something else to listen to. They're definitely winning.)

Kimbra, Puscifer, A Perfect Circle, Trophy Scars, The Middle East, Grammatics, Beirut (Super catchy music with great lyrics that throws awesome curveballs at you)

Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Kenny Dorham, Dizzie Gillespie, Max Roach, Cab Calloway, Clifford Brown, Ahmad Jamal (jazz)

Claude Michel-Schonberg (musicals)

The Mars Volta (they're always getting played regularly)

Orbit Service, These Arms are Snakes (Listening to them tons is kinda dying off although new Orbit Service album will prolly change that)

I hardly listen to metal anymore. Even new Zebulon Pike, East of the Wall, and Hammers of Misfortune didn't catchy my attention like I thought they would. :(

I forgot about Lost Horizon, Human Fortress, Savatage, Dionysus and probably a dozen more bands too.

I like Random pop songs. Maybe a couple hundred acts at 1-10 songs over the entire career. I think I keep around 1000 oif these types of songs around.

I have so much less music than ever before. I stick with about 350 albums and prefer to have the entire discography of bands and basically shun live material.

I think it's an awkward position to be in. I really love all the different genres, but I love to study Prog and power metal. The theory, the production, the lyrics, researching where they got their ideas and who's basically saying the same things and finding the connections in the lyrics that tell quite a damn story, our story.

All in all though, if both those subgenres never happened there would still be so much good material around that I simply don't have time for. It is unfair but since there's unlimited time, all will be appreciated if that's what you want, so I'm not sweating the fact I haven't heard the Testament discography hundreds of times. I'm focused in another area. I probably will have enough to study for many years to come, but some stuff gets priority over others for some reason.

My top 20 bands are just a tip of the huge iceberg that I have chosen to become extremely involved with and the other facets, other lifetimes really that could have been or may well be still lurk around. Who knows where it will all end up year after year. It seems stagnating to listen to the same stuff again, but when I compare the time periods I notice a huge amount is added to the "pool" of material that is really always on my mind.

According to Last Fm, here's the 20 artists I played most in the last 6 months:

1 - Queen
2 - Marc Ribot
3 - Slough Feg
4 - Bob Marley
5 - Rush
6 - Anthrax
7 - Steve Hackett
8 - Thin Lizzy
9 - Charles Mingus
10 - Nits
11 - Bill Frisell
12 - Antonio Carlos Jobim
12 - Peter Gabriel
12 - Genesis
15 - Elliott Carter
15 - Valient Thorr
17 - John Zorn
17 - Tom Waits
17 - The Easybeats
20 - Motorpsycho

It gets a little weird in the second half with some artists I wouldn't have thought would be here.
Other than that, it's pretty much spot on as a recent favorites list.
