It seems every woman I've ever met is completely useless when it comes to managing a budget or any financially sound decision.

Real life examples of women I've known - some I'm related to, some I've dated, married or just been friends with!

I've only ever met one woman who had sound financial common sense.

This is a rant cause my partner is pissing me off with contradictory wants that can only result in us losing our house if followed to their loigical conclusion.

Bloody women and their complete lack of financial acumen.

E.g. 1

Women is pregnant. She wants 12 months off work of which only 3 months is paid for. So she needs to save up to be able to live for the 9 months unpaid. Instead she splurges money on kids toys and other cutesy bullshit cause it's "cute."

End result: Can't take 12 months off and is then angry with husband.

E.g. 2

Women wants a new car but can only spend $20,000. Husband says type of car she wants is $25,000 with onroad costs. Woman claims husband is clueless.

Car ends up costing $25,000. Woman not happy to be in debt.

E.g. 3

Woman hates her shit little appartment and wants to buy a house in the country. Except she splurges her savings on alcohol and Ebay clothes.

She then whinges how she hates her apartment.

(Lucky for her, her future husband had a house in the country).

E.g. .4

Woman pays off car debt very quckly. Very good except she raked up a massive credit card debt (mainly for clothes) which had double the interest rate of the car loan.

Credit card debt was more than value of car.

E.g. 5

Woman wants house renovated,, a new outdoor dining room, a new indoor dining room and a holiday every year. She gets massively depressed if she doesn't get what she wants/

Husband earns a lot but not that much so works his guts out.

Woman gets most of what she wants.

But then she whinges how her husband is always at work and is trying to make him retire but then demands additional kitchen rebuild, new car and more holidays.

E.g. 6

Woman not happy with present situation and wants to move. She then drags her family around the country despite the family not wanting too and the husband warning of cost.

Total cost of moving ends up at being $67,000 which wipes their savings out. They return back home and the woman claims that at least she got to see her aunty and uncle (which would've cost her $500 per annum if she stayed put).

E.g. 7

Husband leaves woman to manage budget. Woman bankrupts family in 1980s due to overspending mainly on furniture and clothes.

E.g. 8

After much volatile argument, wife from example 7 manages to wrest control of finances from husband again and nearly brings them to bankruptcy again at which husband takes over control after much fighting.

E.g. 9

Woman insists on iPhone package, expensive clothes, expensive perfumes and expensive wedding ceremony. She then cries to my wife that she cannot afford to pay the $1,600 power bill that she accumulated using a clothes dryer (average winter power bill should only be $500-$600)..

E.g. 10

Woman insists on expensive wedding dress, iPhone/iPad package, expensive car etc. Though her husband is equally retarded.

Despite spending money on all this crap, they've not fixed the foundations of their house which were heavily weakened when previous idiot owner removed critical beams to expand his garage.

E.g. 11
Despite being dependent on benefits and at times charity from extended family, woman insists on giving Xboxes, digitial cameras, Ipods etc as gifts to her kids.

I wish my woman just let me manage the finances.

She gets very angry when I tell her there's no money for pointless stuff ala the 47th handbag or 28th pair of shoes.

She then tells me I should manage the finances and then tries to interfere when she wants another pointless trinket.

To answer more seriously, I know both kind of women (spender and not), so I don't think this is a general rule. However, I admit they have a stronger propension to spend than us. I think this is more a psychological issue than anything else. People buy useless stuff to fill a void, an emptiness. When you buy something, you artificially feel that you exist, that you have power, especially to make your day-to-day existence better.
The non-spender women I know are women who grew up in a poor (non-capitalist) environment. My mother, for instance. She doesn't feel this urge to buy stuff, because for her owning is a mean, not a necessity. The spender women I know are all young women with (psychological) issues. They all lack something. They're unhappy and scared. Their lives are unbalanced, even if they all seem fine.

Besides, women generally have this urge to feel pretty. Being pretty is a sort of power, a leverage for them. An asset, a capital. Hence the shoes and clothes, perhaps. I don't know, I'm not a woman.

And if you add the fact they are f***ing crazy, in the end you got abysmal debts.

Mitch W: what you say is, to me, a casus belli. I would instantly break up with someone like this (well, after giving her a chance, or two. Maybe.)

No, you 80 IQ dipshit, women are NOT financially retarded, despite what some examples may lead you to believe.

Will you still laugh when you're forced to sleep under a bridge because a succubus stole/wasted all your money? I'm joking.

I remember hearing the phrase "retail therapy" and thinking it was satirical and then feeling kind of icky when I found out it wasn't. That said I don't think financial retardation is exclusive to women, and I know lots of women who are good with movie, so you're probably wrong etc.

My lady friend is an accountant--so she helps me plan my investments when she's got me tied to the bedpost.

So yeah, this thread doesn't resonate much with me at all.

Let me list all the reasons why I am financially retarded despite having a penis.

In (poor) countries, were microcredit is implemented, credits are mostly allowed to women and not men, because men tend to waste the money on alcohol, whores, etc., whereas women tend to invest it in productive capacities (very small businesses, etc.) It's not me who says it, it's Amartya Sen, 1998 Nobel Prize.

So it's not at all an inherently "women exclusive" thing, I really think as I said in a previous post that it's a psychology issue. Buying as compulsive behaviour, if you like. And perhaps, *perhaps*, women are a bit more prone to be victims of this kind of things.

Besides, I really think that's a Western countries issue, where having private debts is (unfortunately) easy as pie.

Really intuitive but really intelligent. Basicallly, I use cute and adorable to describe anything and everything.
