Sweet, definitely need to pick this up immediately.

Hopefully it's a further maturation of the band since The June Frost, which was amazing.

Can't wait to dig into this one. New Esoteric, new Abstract Spirit, new MDB ep as well, things are looking up (or down) for funeral/death doom. If only Dolorian would return...

Giving this band another try; I'm liking it so far. Although it is taking more time to get into them in comparison to other funeral bands but that cannot be considered a negative thing at all.

Edit: My patience has been rewarded. This stuff is excellent. It clicked!

Glad it did click for you finally. Once you are in you are in though with this band.

+1. Agreed, on Catechism of Depression, Alex. As good as the rest of the album is, this track is in the pantheon of all-time doom classics, maybe up there with "Monad of Creation", itself. This band never disappoints.

Anyone else besides DI and I end up getting a hold of this? Stand out material for those of us with really (perhaps unhealthily) long attention spans.

It's quite a shame that we don't have more Doom Metal fans around here. Emperor, when the hell are you going to make that thread?

When I come across a good doom metal, I always try pointing it out to you guys. I am an equal opportunity doom fan, with melodeath/doom, trad doom (like recent Pale Divine) or funeral stuff like The Mournful Congregation.

Oh I know you do, Alex. My comment was more directed toward others. I suppose the phrase "to each their own" couldn't been more apt. I also know that Raven has taken a liking to The Sloooow aspect of things!

I like it too, but I'm more into other subgenres.

Yeah, I remember you loving the new Esoteric and their other albums. More into Melodic Doom/Death I take it? Did you give the new Katatonia a listen?

Raven is definitely into the stuff I tend to like as well. Seems me and him have very similar tastes.

Not yet (about Katatonia). Been enjoying the new Ahab too. I also need to check the new Evoken. And this (Mournful Congregation).

I quite like doom metal in general as well. Mournful Congregation is a band that for some reason always drops off my radar. I should definitely check this out, The June Frost was fantastic.

Definitely check out the new Evoken guys, it's absolutely terrific.

Yeah, you guys are, I think, in the same age range as well, right?

I think so. Early 40s. I guess it is downhill after some point, so you tend to be more into slower more introverted stuff.
