Nah, Meshuggah are pretty dull. It's cool that they've got such a distinct sound, and that makes me think I should like them, but listening to most of their albums is always a chore. I can still get behind I and Catch33 though.

Yeah, DEP is so much better!!!!!!!
They kinda are insofar as they write interesting songs. Crescendos, breakdowns, choruses and the like are effective means to making good songs. It's honestly a good example of one band stealing another band's sound and making it better as the original band kinda has become stagnate.

I love how defensive you got. Note, I only mentioned their last two albums. I haven't listened to their older stuff in a long time but never had any mixed feelings about it being awesome.

Was I really that defensive? I sort of agreed with Noodles later anyway. It's just too predictable that in the wake of Goat's announcement someone would start objecting to the premise of another Meshuggah album.

And choruses/breakdowns making for good songs? Pshhh.

I don't think DEP stole Meshuggah's sound. In their early years, DEP sound as much like Don Caballero or Dazzling Killmen as they do Meshuggah.

Cloudkicker and Das War on the other hand... :-)

Yes, it is predictable that when a band is mentioned people would discuss it.

Alright, alright. You win. I am irrationally defensive about Meshuggah because they were right there from the beginning of my journey to the metal underground: Destroy Erase Improve was basically the next cd I unwrapped after Chaos A.D. Objections noted and understood, I'm still excited about another album.

Ditto. Enjoyed 0bz3n or however you're supposed to spell it, enjoy the band's sound, enjoy what they do with it.

They're one of those bands I like because they need very little effort.

these bands need to stop trying to become straight up death metal bands rather then being Deathcore. But they will never be as good because there just generic and shitty as usual.
