Tears of the Dragon is a ridiculously awesome song. Rivals Maiden's best work IMO, ironic being that it's seemingly about Bruce's first stint with them. Good review as always.

I still think this is Bruce's most interesting solo album. It's the one where he managed to stray from metal and still not like himself (unlike Skunkworks) and has some of the best tunes in his solo repertoire (and, btw, I agree with the "killer tracks" which I almost never do).
Nice review Zaddy.

It's a good review, although i don't totally agree with it; Bruce would go on after this one, and produce albums that are closer to the traditional metal sound, and closer to Iron Maiden, and which are very good albums in their own right...but which,at least imo, are not as amazingly good and as interesting and unique as BTP.

I think this is Bruce's best solo album, and even the worst song on it is at least very good.

92/100

I really enjoy all of Bruce's solo work, even Millionaire (on the right day in the right frame of mind), but this one always stood out to me. I especially enjoy Cyclops, which has a great chorus.

Although I like Chemical and Accident better, this one is still up there to me. Killing tracks are also my favs.

Ah, Brucie

Although I have been a long time follower, this is my first post on the site. I remember stumbling upon this album as kid, riffling through my older brother’s collection and listening to ‘Cyclops’ for the first time. My metal knowledge was underdeveloped and limited to Maiden and I was searching for another Maiden album in Balls to Picasso. I was wrong to expect Maiden in Bruce’s solo effort but I wasn’t disappointed with what I had heard. 18 years later and I’m still drawn to this album’s emotion. Really nice review of a Dickinson classic and I think the rating of 79 is fair. It is an exceptional album from Bruce’s formative years as a solo artist and one, for me at least, that never gets old. Thank you for the review.
