Billy Idol fucking sucks.
An 80?
What the fuck.
I like old Billy Idol somewhat, but i have to disagree with Marty with this one and say this album is very crappy.
without going into much detail, this album is purely a cut and paste of ultra-commercial mainstream pop-punk aimed at reaching a big audience. Nothing innovative, badass or killer. Just the sad attempt by an old booze wench who totally misrepresented punk in the 80's trying to get back into music by playing over-played lolipop punk.
like i underscored : 50 / 100.. maybe even less

I went into listening to this album fully expecting the worst. Believe me, if this album were "cut and paste of ultra-commercial mainstream pop-punk aimed at reaching a big audience" I would've ripped this CD a new asshole. His material in the past was mainstream pop/punk but not this CD. Did you even listen to all of it? I'm not sure that we're talking about the same CD here. There's several songs that are darker and a lot heavier than anything he's done before without an ounce of commercialism whatsoever. As far as lolipop punk, there's lots of other new bands playing sugar coated punk that reek far more of commercialism than this album. Devil's Playground has been getting great reviews. Metal Rules even gave it a 9.5/10. Billy has been clean and sober for over 10 years now and is in the best physical condition of his life. Calling him an old booze wench is totally unjustified. I still stand by my review of this album. It's a great summertime party album and if people can't take it for what it's worth, especially in this day and age of ultra-serious and darker overtones not only in metal but pop music as well, then it's their loss.........
Sorry Marty, I didn;t mean to sound dry or offensive in my opinion. Looking at this from another persective, i could really understand why it is a likeable album since it's poppy, catchy and each song has its own signature sound. The reason why i don't like it much is because i was expecting Idol to make an album with songs in the vein of Rebel Yell, Dancing with Myself, White Wedding or Flesh for Fantasy. This album really caught me off guard per se, and i thought that he sounds more like Greenday and Blink 182 than himself.
again.. my apologies for the other post.
