Not metal at all but I always felt Paul Williams (of De Palma's Phantom of Paradise's fate) had quite a potential. Whatever happened to him? Lost in the limbs, probably...

These guys have gone through some line-up changes. They got a new drummer finally, but now he's joined Hexen as well, so I don't know what the hell the deal is there. Their facebook page hasn't had no comment from them between like 2010 and then this February....where they just more-or-less said "we will be back eventually" and then nothing for the last 8 months. So I don't know what the hell is going on there.

Oh, I remember you really like Mantic Ritual as well.....unfortunately they broke up.

Fueled by Fire put out a second album a while back, but I never heard it. I read that it was better than their first, which I thought was a good album. They're still touring though, I believe, so not a lost cause at all.

Bonded by Blood have gone through whole-sale line-up changes. It's not even the same band anymore.

With Aladdin gone from the vocal position, they have lost the most unique thing about them.

It was just an EP, only 20 minutes (including 2 covers). Haven't heard it but I read it was excellent, and has really whet people's appetite for the next full-length. Time Is Up was so good, I'm pretty psyched myself.

As for newer bands, the most interesting one is Algebra from Switzerland. They play a very heady style of tech-thrash which is right up my alley (probably yours too, I thought you'd probably already know them).

They're the only band that really impresses me a lot, but there are a bunch of up-and-comers releasing first albums. You've got the likes of Blessed Curse, Conflicted and Possessor, who have all put out first albums which may or may not indicate a strong presence in the future. It's more like "decent stuff, wait and see".

I haven't made any purchases yet from the brand new crop, but Algebra is the only one I'd be considering just at the moment.

I tried out for the singer's old band and his singing was so piss poor (which had to be brought up to the band in question and was TBH) I had an extremely difficult time emulating his "style" and absolutely bombed when I tried to do them with the band. That band's drummer quit a week later for some reason he told me in an e-mail. I only wanted to play with them to meet Kreator and Destruction not because I cared about doing 80's thrash, so I'm pretty glad I didn't get tied up doing that shit every weekend.
