Cool bump, Raven, I missed this review the first time. I liked this album, and would score it in the solid 80ish range, but the sudden attention means I'll relisten soon.
Good recommendation on Void of Silence: I had no idea you were into funeral/ambient doom, Raven! Is this a new thing?
If you had any idea how much time I spend sitting here with my laptop searching for new music, you would probably think I am a wee bit obsessive. I like doom and over the past few years I've gotten into electronic ambient music by Steve Roach, Thom Brennan, and Rudy Adrian. I listen to a lot of it when I go hiking and when I'm studying because I find it relaxing, plus due to the absence of lyrics it allows me to concentrate better when I'm reading. Well, when I discovered ambient/doom/death (however you would like to categorize it) I found that it was just a perfect bridge between metal and the ambient stuff. So, I guess you could consider it a new thing for me. Last Saturday I found Bindrune Recordings who have Falls of Rauros, Obsequiae, and Nechochwen. Check those out too.
