Was decent from what I recall, the vocals contrast a lot with the music

I prefer Black Future but both are badass.

Yeah, I prefer Black Future too, but only just. Actually, if you check Zad's old Black Future review, I added my score onto it and it was even higher than this one.

That too.
I sincerely think Vektor are the best new thrash metal band around.

The Voivod comparison is valid in the way that it is kinda Sci-Fi Thrash. I agree that they are original, but they seem like a modern day Voivod to me. I really enjoy this album. I have Black Future, but never really gave it much of a chance. I'll have to go back to it. The vocals take some getting used to, but at least it's something different. It kinda helps create the vibe this album exudes. It make me think of deep space horror/thriller movies like Sphere or Sunshine or Event Horizon. It definitely has a raw futuristic vibe.

This album is fucking badass. Black Future too for that matter. Listening to one of these albums while doing my jogging is like receiving a shot of adrenaline right in the chest.

My favorite thrash band to come out in the last 10 years or so. I literally worship these guys

Hexen is the only young formation I can think of that almost can compete with Vektor. If any of you lads know of some others, feel free to share.

I just had that same thought. I'm giving Dark Roots at least one listen, but I'd much rather be listening to Vektor.

Yeah, I know it's sci-fi thrash, but what I'm saying in the review is that's where the similarities end. The similiarites are pretty superficial in the end, because the actual music is completely different. Neither of Vektor's albums sounds anything like Killing Technology or Nothingface, you know what I mean? You're never going to put on Vektor and think you're listening to Voivod. Very different albums. Also, I agree completely that it's very suitable music for movies. I have often thought it would be cool if a director made some kind of psychedelic animated movie with no dialogue, and just let Vektor score the whole thing.

- Urto, a tech-thrash band from Italy. Very good stuff.

- Algebra, also tech-thrash but from Switzerland. Not quite up to the standard of the others yet, but their debut has a huge amount of promise.

Sampling this, I was considerably enthused. Great riffage and soundscape. I can't lie, the Abbath-esque vocals make me chuckle but in a differently awesome way, especially the banshee-screams. Thanks for noting it as I missed this last year.

Doesn't sound like Abbath to me. More like Ihsahn.

Agreed on Ihsahn. Steve is right, the vocals do contrast a lot with the music.

I don't think they contrast. It took me a while to get used to them, especially since I don't really listen to much Black Metal, but once I learned to appreciate them I found they actually added a lot to the atmosphere of the music.

I think his shreiking is very appropriate because it helps paint a picture of cold, vast space, which is what they're going for. It also sounds kind of alien, which again is appropriate.

I think they contrast if you come from a black metal perspective. Otherwise, yeah, I can see them fitting the atmosphere.

This. I think they just sound awesome and rather fitting.

This album is pretty damned awesome. The vocals definitely take some getting used to though..
