Motorhead and Anthrax this weekend!
Joey Belladonna is kinda awesome live. Saw both bands back in July and Anthrax earlier in the year as well and they put on a great show.

@Relentless: You may have not heard Converge or Old Man Gloom, but at some point early next year, both will be in Adelaide. I would take the opportunity to see them. I can't imagine it being too expensive.

thanks I'll see if I can dig up tickets from somewhere, though I will need to try and find someone to go with, being vision impaired going to gigs on my own is extremely difficult

I find drinking at a show takes away from the experience, having said that my first serious case of underaged drinking occured when my cousin decided she wanted to drag me with her to an evanescence concert, and even as a totally shit-faced sixteen year old that concert was absolute torture, truly a terrible experience, honestly the consequent hangover was less painful

Yeah, I don't really ever get drunk at shows. Maybe a few PBRs at a punk show, but never enough to ever actually feel it.

like I said ordinarily I feel drinking takes away from the experience, but in the case cited above trust me there is no way you want to suffer through that garbage sober

Anathema sounded even better, and was more inspiring live than on record. That's some mean feat considering how brilliantly they manage to instill pure human emotion on a plastic disc.

so i had the best night of my miserable year on thursday. fucking royal thunder kicks all kinds of ass. met the band for the second time. they are super cool. they signed my lp. i bought a royal thunder hoody. mlny bought me a shot and talked to me which just made my fucking night. so fucking cool.

so monster magnet is december 15 in sayersville nj. i have tickets for me and my buddy and his gf. this is like a hour and a half away from my house.

i got word that royal thunder is opening for monster magnet in philly on dec 16th. guess who is going to both fucking shows.... i am. fuck yes.

i got the sword on tuesday of this week. high on fire and goatwhore on the 22nd. i got enslaved on 30 of jan. i got clutch dec 30th.

there will be more to add to this.

oh and drinking at shows in my opinion makes them more fun. i never would of met royal thunder and chilled with them had i been sober. im shy.

Anthrax and Motorhead were great but also FUCKING LOUD. Ears were ringing after Lemmy and co finished kicking my face in with Overkill. Glad I wasn't drunk, would have been impossible to cope with. Girlfriend recognised Killed By Death before I did.

When you go to a lot of metal shows, you should wear earplugs. I know it's kind of dorky, but trust me you'll thank yourself after the show!

Will have to seriously consider it, I think. Quite painful at times and made recognising songs tough (already hard enough considering it's Motorhead!)

Definitely worth it. For years, I went to shows and thought "I should try earplugs" after the fact. Before the Nasum show, I just so happened to have a mild infection in one ear which was causing a little bit of pain, so I went out and got some earplugs.

It made the show so much more enjoyable. As you said, it was much easier to tell what was being played, and it was still loud as all fuck.

My philosophy is you can only drink waaayyy too much if you end up fighting someone or in hospital. Other than that, you've had just enough.

As for memories....fuck 'em!
