Familiar with Drudkh, and quite like them as well as Altar of Plagues and Wolves in the Throne Room. The post-rock influence compels me. Will check out the rest and get back to you. I'm picky as hell, so I hope one or two gets through :)
Post-rock in your black metal? Ash Borer's s/t is where it's at or even Deafheaven's Road to Judah.

Ash Boring
Maybe with Cold of Ages, I'd agree with this assessment, but there s/t debut is amazing.

Ragnarok - Heir of Darkness: Fuck me, this is violent. I kind of like it, but not exactly what I'm looking for right now. Okay no, I lied. This is damn good. Blackdoor Miracle is officially on my list. That hideous cover art nearly made me drop it though. Jesus.

Arcturus - To Thou Who Dwellest In The Night Hmm.. The production irks me. Keyboards a bit to big, vocals low in the mix. General sound of it not too awesome although there are some really great parts in the middle. Maybe this is something that will grow on me.

Sargeist - Empire of Suffering This is the shit. Shattered my skull.

Nokturnal Mortum - Tears of Paganism and Lunar Poetry Production awful, music great, will check out more.

Forest of Fog - Feuersturm Definitely see the Taake comparison, but this didn't really click.

Will check out the rest later. Thanks guys.

Looking for some excellent Black/Thrash in the veins of Destroyer 666. Melodic/Romantic/Melancholic/Dramatic and of course heavy. Cheers!

Not really along the lines of Destroyer 666, but Skeletonwitch churn out some highly excellent Black/Thrash.

Yeah, they're quite excellent. I have an album by them.

Ah cool. Well don't be afraid to try the others. They're all good.

Dunno which one you have, but the first one is quite complex while the next two are much more simplified like a kind of black/thrash n' roll. So it's worth checking out for the differences.

You know how I know you don't listen to much black metal? And yeah, Beyond the Permafrost is sick.

ok let's see if I can't take advantage of this thread

looking for death metal, currently have: Arch Enemy, Centaurus-A, Dark Tranquility, Death, Element, Kronos, Miseration, Obituary, Oskord, Sympathy and Svartsot, plus a couple others that escape my recollection

also have a rather lengthy list from another forum which I will post the link to rather then name each band

http://metalforum.com/forum/suggestions-t1157.html

(important note when I first started the thread I was only just beginning to regain interest in death metal after a lengthy hiatus, my tolerance for harsh vocals has improved greatly since then however I do still prefer coherent growls)

thanks for any help you can give

That link you posted didn't work for me, so sorry if this stuff is on there, but here are my go-to suggestions for straight-up DM. This is the shit I listened to most when I was just getting into it. I have plenty more suggestions if you're into Brutal DM, Technical DM or Grindcore.

Deicide - Deicide
Deicide - Stench of Redemption
Carcass - Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious
Carcass - Heartwork
Bolt Thrower - Warmaster
Bolt Thrower - The IVth Crusade
Vader - Litany
Morbid Angel - Blessed Are the Sick
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Entombed - Clandestine

Second Vader's Litany.

Edit: A DM band I just discovered a few days ago which is alright and decent in my point of view is Cemetery Urn.

Anything you could say more precisely what you want in your death metal? Cleaner vocals a la early Arch Enemy's Burning Bridges, crunchy riffs a la Bolt Thrower, technicality a la Arsis or Necrophagist? Saying your looking for death metal is pretty open-ended.

I was deliberately vague because I'm looking for death/thrash, brutal death, tech-death or melodeath, the list I posted above should be helpful I hope

what I have enjoyed the most have been Immolation, Bolt Thrower, Gorguts, Morbid Angel and Autopsy
