Nah, man, I said Dr. John!

Ha! My Bad!
Everytime I see John I read Zorn.

think there was a new Worship album as well, I know funeral doom isn't popular around here but I've heard some of that album and it's pretty good

Candlemass was ok. I'm not really a big fan of theirs but it will be in my big list I make tonight.

Angel witch was ok in my opinion. Great riffs. And I've heard people bitch about the vocals but I like them. A decent album. I'm gonna probably do a list of fifty and it will be included.

Runners up: Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, Revolting, Denial of God, Beheaded, Behexen, Converge, Mgla, Alcest, Revenge, Blut Aus Nord (Cosmosophy), Skelator, Ea, Dawnbringer, Incantation, Deftones, Dead Can Dance, Execration

Shit of the year: Enslaved, Sigh, Aborted, Katatonia, Accept, Hour of Penance, Liberteer, Castle, Withcraft, The Faceless, Spawn of Possession, Drudkh, Proclamation, 3 inches of shit,

All and all was a better year for picking up reissues, was a mediocre for metal all and all.
Great list dude. A lot of those albums will be in the big list I'm gonna make later.

Great lists guys!! Like I said, I'm gonna do a list of fifty. I've bought a lot of music this year. I think it was a good year for metal myself. I've found a lot of gems amongst all the shit.

Guys we need to get these lists straight by the end of December so if you need to make a bigger list please do so. And put the albums in order from favorite at the number one spot. It's good to know what everyone really likes. We spend a lot of time chatting and knowing what we all like will help with recs and stuff.

I did forget about Candlemass. That will be on my updated list.

Candlemass album was barely okay. I seriously wish they had stopped after Death Magic Doom because that last one did nothing for me. Tis a shame.

I will shamefully admit I didn't get very many new albums this year. My favorite is probably Tenacious D - Rize of the Fenix

I spent this year listening to old stuff mostly, but here are some of the albums I liked:

Elysian Blaze - Blood Geometry
Les Discrets - Ariettes Oubliees
Overkill - Electric Age
Razorwyre - Another Dimension (surprise of the year)
Wodensthrone - Curse
MGLA - With Hearts Toward None

My album of the year will be released this Friday. That's Finsterforst - Rastlos.

I'll think of more stuff later.

I bought both at the same time and don't really understand how one can be considered better or worse than the other. I did hear Death Magic Doom at time of release and I admit that is awesome, but IMO the new one is no less awesome. It's just a continuation, like Death Magic Doom Part 2 or something. Just my opinion. Don't like it, then eat shit and die. :)

Yeah, I need to give Years Past Matter more spins. It is really good. I have trouble wrapping my brain around the totality of a Krallice album let alone trying to compare them, but this one seems heavier in some ways.

Need to check that Horrendous album out. Been searching for good ole Death Metal to work out. The album has very positive reviews in MA.

Hate doing this kind of lists. But this year it's so easy because I've listened to only 13 albums or so. And I'm also awaiting for the new Finsterforst, and will probably stick it in here somewhere.

1. Overkill - The Electric Age of course
2. Accept - Stalingrad of course

The rest is in an alphabetical order:

3. Ensiferum - Unsung Heroes
4. Enslaved - Riitiir
5. Grave Digger - Clash Of The Gods
6. In Mourning - The Weight Of Oceans
7. Kreator - Phantom Antichrist
8. Rage - 21
9. Rebellion - Arminius: Furor Teutonicus
10. Testament - Dark Roots of Earth
10. Wintersun - Time I

Honorable mentions:
Blaze Bayley - The King Of Metal, Candlemass - Psalm For The Dead and Grand Magus - The Hunt. They are all good albums but not on par with the last few releases.

I know, shitty, generic list with no surprises, and I think In Mourning is the only new band I gave a chance. Butt fu*k it, I love the classics. So :P

I thought this one was good too!

Much the same. In fact most of the stuff I brought this year was back catalogue (e.g. Paradise Lost's 2nd last album or Onslaught's last album).

As for 2012 stuff I actually brought:

1. Soulfly - Enslaved - superb
2. Kreator - Phantom Antichrist
3. Overkill - The Electric Age
4. High on Fire - De Vermis Mysteriis - not as goods as previous two
5. Lamb of God - Resoultion - a bit meh unfortunately

I have also enjoyed listening to and as such intend to buy following):

Down - Down IV
Cryptopsy - Cryptopsy (good return to form)
Shadows Fall - Fire From The Sky (also good return to form)
Soundgarden - new one, can't remember name

Disappointments for 2012:

Steve Harris - British Lion - would've been good if he had a half decent vocalist

Back Catalogue gems:

Onslaught - Sounds of Violence

Rediscovering Paradise Lost - In Requiem, Faith Divides Us - Death Unite Us as well as classic Draconian Times. Basically I realised that I liked Paradise Lost clean singing stuff more than their DM stuff.

Icon is great and all, but I dig In Requiem kinda a lot.

I already know your dislike for Krallice and Baroness (which doesn't surprise me at all btw), but have you actually heard Demonocracy? Job have become a genuinely interesting death metal act at this point.

If I wanted to hear generic death metal, I'd play something by them I've known JFAC since they were a demo level band they're a legion of posers and fudgepackers.
