I didn't care for anything they've done before Demonocracy, though I liked a few tracks off Ruination. If you've not heard their new one I'd recommend trying it, you may be surprised.

Job For A Cowboy - Demonocracy
Krallice - Years Past Matter
Baroness - Yellow & Green

lol gay

I already know your dislike for Krallice and Baroness (which doesn't surprise me at all btw), but have you actually heard Demonocracy? Job have become a genuinely interesting death metal act at this point.

For whatever it's worth, I agree with you. Good album. Not top 10 of the year good, but good nonetheless.

I don't own it yet. So it can't be in my list. These are all albums I own. And quite few were left out cause I have work tomorrow.

Thanks.

As usual the majority of albums I purchased were from previous years. As far as 2012 goes I only have Imaginaerum, Koloss, and Koi No Yokan. I enjoyed all three. :P

In no specific order and mixing genres(including non metal):

Katatonia - Dead End Kings
The Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten
Daylight Dies - a Frail Becoming
Soundgarden - King Animal
Metric - Synthetica
Swallow The Sun - Emerald Forest and the Blackbird
Kamelot - Silverthorn
Paradise Lost - Tragic Idol
Smashing Pumpkins - Oceania

still looking forward to get a chance to listen to the new Stolen Babies, Rush and Alcest.

Top 4:

1. Vision Divine - Destination Set to Nowhere (95/100)
2. Rush - Clockwork Angels (85/100)
3. Arjen Lucassen - Lost In The New Real (NQ)
4. Kreator - Phantom Anti-Christ (NQ)

Obviously, I have a lot of catching up to do. I think both Rhapsody bands released a new record that I am in no hurry to hear, really.

I haven't heard nearly as many records as exist that I want to hear eventually this year. In five years my list will be far more accurate. It's a good thing metal can exist outside the timeframe it was written.

Yeah, that Deiphago album was crap. Generic Beherit worship with shitty noise influences throw in, how hacks like that make it big is a testament to how tolerant some of the more vocal black metalheads who enjoy generic black/death metal tolerate mediocrity.
