There was a huge buzz about these guys when their first album came out. I remember struggling to get my hands on it and then when I did I was somewhat disappointed. I'm not a big fan of the movie or audio clips between each song thing. IMO if they wouldn't have done that on the first album, I would have liked it more cause their sound is pretty dark and evil. Problem is, as soon as I hear some movie clip or whatever those clips are, it ruins the whole out of this world feel and brings it back to earth. I am looking forward to checking this out without the high expectations I had for the last one. Maybe I will have a better perspective and enjoy it more.
I feel like the sound clips worked rather well on Hatred for Mankind. I think it is supposed to bring it down to this world. A very visceral and gritty look at evil. Where this album is more seductive in its atmosphere, rather than being in your face, the sound clips really shoot the album in the foot. However, given my penchant for grind, sound clips don't completely turn me off a band within reason.
