You'd make a good mod around here if you were interested too. You've been around here a long time, and never saw you mix it up with any poster. Also wanted to quote you here because I agree.

I think the site the last few years has been remarkably drama free, compared to the 2004-2007 days. There are a bunch of reasons for this, and clearly the early staff faced more frequent difficult situations, but that said, the more recent staff's generally more relaxed policy was a smart adaption to the changing site. The Steve situation (as V noted, all the more disappointing because Steve was once a pretty normal and quite knowledgeable contributor to the site) was an exception to the rule of general tranquility in the later years of MR.

Yeah, I made the "Ban Steve" thread, which clearly was a mistake to have made public. Either way, I'm glad those in charge didn't listen to me and instead made their own ruling when he had reached their own criteria for a ban.

Simply more moderation. Also, more strict rules like rules for being banned if done and acted out of the limits for excessive amount of times. I do think the net does need strict rules sometimes because of the random people on it. We do generally get a long quite well despite our differences. I also think having very strict rules can make people avoid sites. But a site like Metal Archives having sometimes ridiculous rules they follow other times is necessary for the order of the site. I think we need to reevaluate our moderation with simply more moderation presence and also more strictness in putting into action timeless rules. I think banning is sometimes necessary among regulating other harsh rules because of the order needed in a website.

If you are talking about steve, he's benn banned already a few times.
Other than that, there aren't any violations of forum rules that I can think of, so I'm not sure what you mean by "more strict rules".

You don't? Maybe when most threads go totally off topic? When a purchase thread turns into drinking thread? For example I like how Thomas handles things around here. You can either act appropriately or the post will be deleted. That kind of a thing might be sometimes the solution to the chaos here once in a while. Are you denying the fact that this site needs more order and discipline? Either way, it is after all just a website and you can always just close the window and come back in a few days.

Fuck all that.
You sound as if you want this place to resemble some 19th century parlor where everybody sits around drinking their tea with their pinkies daintily extended and their legs crossed.
Jesus, the site is a place for 'heads to bullshit about whatever is on their mind. Fuck rigidity, If I wanted any of that action I'd be listening to Pat Boone.

Sometimes you haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about do you? You have all the wrong ideas. You take things to the extreme when you describe a 19th century scenery of people. You know what? Whatever, I couldn't care less at this point. You misunderstand what I say when I put thoughts into exact words like "we need just some more discipline or more moderation around here" and you take to it another extreme which isn't really something I'm going say in other words. I stand by what I say. Unfortunately there more like-minded people around here that agree with you. That the site is okay the way it is. I strongly disagree and stand by it.

As always, you're overdressed.
You're like the guy that puts on a suit and tie to grab lunch at the local all-you-can-eat buffet.

The site is great just the way it is.

And as always you're the close-minded person you always are. Again, I am not implying this site needs drastic changes. Minor moves will make this place a better place than it actually is. That is all.

All I know is that this site needs more discipline.

How so?

It's fine the way it is.

Add stubborn do the list. Like stream of water that gets stuck in the middle of no where and never creates a river.
I love the way DI tries to act all educated and smart and better than but when someone calls him out on his bullshit he resorts to name calling and the totally stupid post above me that makes absolutely no sense. Stubborn pool of water into a river?? Ok mystery man.

So I got an email from this site for the first time since my last post for this thread. Curiosity got the better of me and I clicked the link. I read the last few pages of this thread and a couple others since I've been gone and it totally reinforced my decission to leave.

People like DI who act like little babies are of course going to want stricter rules because they can't defend themselves and are quick to get butthurt.

I don't know what happened with Steve that caused his ban and I honestly don't care. If you guys want this place to be totally devoid of fun and controversy that is your prerogative. Sounds boring to me but I'm not sticking around so I don't care. You can all sit around and talk about DI's failed attempt at a relationship and each others boring bullshit. There is hardly any music discussion. You banned one of the only people with real knowledge on a variety of metal.

I just really want to stress that having people like EBD and DI in charge of anything will be a mistake for your site. Membership will dwindle. If you think this place is a ghost town now just wait till people start feeling like they can't say anything because those two assholes are mods and might be offended.

DI has stated that he doesn't like it when a thread goes off topic. When a rec thread turns into a drinking thread. If you ask me you should be happy that there is some discussion happening on this dead site. I mean really how many regular posters are there? 10? Maybe 15. I'd say harsher rules will bring that number down. But this is your site and it's up to all of you how you want this site to be.

I really just had to sign in because after I read mystery mans posts over the last few pages I just had to say that he is a fucking moron. The quickest to get butthurt and the quickest to break his stupid character and start calling people names. I really just don't like you. You totally rub me the wrong way.

I went back to my last post and read through the posts that followed and DI was telling Steve he was sucking his dick. Very graphically. But this is the same idiot who wants tougher rules.

Edge of forever. Your a good dude. I appreciate the fact that we are kind of similar in that we don't care about this dumb shit. Thrash. Also a good dude. There are a few of you that are pretty damn cool. But there are a lot more that aren't.

The cry baby bullshit just angers me. So I'm signing out and will not be signing back in.

Btw DI you are a total pretentious idiot who loves the sound of his own voice and that girl was very smart not to date you.

More like a riddle wrapped in an enema wrapped in a vagina.

If DI can get to you .. you got problems.

To me, Define Infinity will forever be the guy who lost a poetry contest to DevotedWalnut because his poem was too pretentious. DevWal wrote about a fucked up duck and won. Enough said.
