Thank you for the preamble...but why the heck are you chosen to review this? Or why did you chose to review this? It's obvious you have no basis for review. It's amazingly funny how you can peruse through many other metal reviews and see that most of them have given Hatebreed's new album a pretty favorable score...yet you outright bash it to no end. The difference? Most other people that review this have actually heard of Hatebreed before. You should have just passed this one up.
No one else was hopping on it and as the resident hardcore afficionado, I gave it a similar score to the reviewer's. If you wanted a favorable review, read the ones you apparently already found.
Familiar with a band or not, within certain limits, hearing a good band for the first time should result in approval. He didn't say that he hated hardcore or even Hatebreed for that matter; he simply hadn't given Hatebreed a listen before. I write reviews about bands I've never heard until I get their promo and if they're good, I give them a favorable rating. His preamble only matters to you since he gave it a harsh score. Based on your logic, no one should ever review debut albums of bands because we have no basis for review having not heard them before.
