Pass. Out of all those bands I have 1 Krisiun album and seen them live once with Destruction a few years back. They were ok.

Aborted's early stuff is fucking mint.

Don't mind the recent stuff either. But Goremageddon is completely amazing.

Bought tickets to see Pig Destroyer in DC at the end of March. They're doing a one-off show to celebrate 3 Floyds released a beer named Permanent Funeral that was brewed with them in mind.

I've had the chance to see them three times and never have. I imagine them being pretty uninteresting live. Straightforward death metal does nothing for me in live settings.

You are clearly not getting drunk enough! Live death metal + copious alcohol imbibement = a damn good night out.

I don't really like getting drunk at shows. Usually I have to drive to them anyways and so that creates a problem. Looking forward to next year being on the metro and can simply ship my ass into DC. Regardless, don't like getting drunk at shows, especially not if I'm moshing. Like yeah, it might help in terms of getting hit, but not for keeping my balance and not getting my teeth busted out.

Oh, ok. Well, we're very different people.

There are shows I go to sober, of course. Usually the more expensive it is, and the more I'd want to remember it when I'm old (Nick Cave, Roger Waters, Deep Purple, shit like that) the more likely I am to go sober.

But I don't think I've ever been to a metal show sober. Half the fun for me is the mindless, drunk thrashing about.

Indeed! On ever so many things. I also don't go to shows to be social. Usually. Usually I'm the jaded asshole in the front who came to see a particular band and when that band plays I go into a fucking frenzy and then leave immediately. There may even not be a frenzy for some bands. I may just stand there nodding my head, being above any shenanigans. Different when I'm at hardcore shows with my friends, but I've never really gone to shows with people or to be around people. It's always been about seeing the band and taking it all in musically. Maybe that'll change.

Oh, I don't go to shows to socialise. Not at all. Usually I just go with my girlfriend or alone, and since she doesn't like most extreme metal, I'd generally go to thrash/death shows alone.

It's just that this type of music in a live setting seems to demand drunkeness from me. It's such a rowdy affair, y'know?

Saw Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds last night. It was everything I hoped for and more. The setlist was impeccable despite a sort of lull in the middle and a lack of Abattoir/Orpheus tracks. He has such an energy on stage and Warren Ellis is a fucking madman on stage. Once they finished the Push the Sky Away set that they opened up with, I was grinning ear to ear with each classic that they began to play.

We No Who U R
Jubilee Street
Wide Lovely Eyes
Higgs Boson Blues
From Her to Eternity
Red Right Hand
Into My Arms
Jack the Ripper
Deanna
Papa Won't Leave You, Henry
Your Funeral... My Trial
Love Letter
God Is in the House
The Weeping Song
The Mercy Seat
Stagger Lee
Tupelo
Push the Sky Away

Cattle Decap and DEP on the same tour is like a dream come true. Is DEP headlining? YES.

New Arsis song. They're still coo'. Original drummer still the best for their thing though imo

Saw Pig Destroyer and Darkest Hour last night. Darkest Hour was lame. Pig Destroyer was fucking amazing. Kat Katz and Johnson from ANb made appearances. The setlist didn't have the jams most dear to me, but they have so many solid riffs and breakdowns that with twenty plus songs in a set, quite a few them are bound to be the classic tunes you'd expect. The stage was so low at the Black Cat in DC, that I started stepping up and stage diving off. I'd get in the pit and fuck around and then bounce back to the front and do it all over again. Three Floyds brewed a pale ale, Pig Destroyer, and that's what the show was for. At 10.5% we were getting pretty fucked up on the shit. Some of the best fifteen dollars that I've ever spent.

Saw Puccini's Tosca live last night. Whole thing was good, act two was wonderful, annoying people next to me kept whispering to each other and smelling like perfume.
