So i was at a local church today to hear a guy i read an interview with a few years back speak about how he managed to turn his life around from being called Norway's most dangerous man to a sweet and gentle soul. This guy was HARDCORE...he dealt with drugs, collected money, extortion etc. I'm glad he found God because i would not like to have met him in his heyday, anyway to turn this into something metal related.

There was this guy who sang at the service who had an amazing voice and i thought to myself "this guy sounds exactly like Roy Khan from who used to sing for Kamelot" so i talked to the guy afterwards and wouldn't you know it IT WAS HIM! He had cut his hair and was bald so i didn't recognize him until i talked to the guy. Apparently he felt compelled to come to my hometown and that church. Kinda random but fun running into Roy and talking to him, he's really nice and cool guy. I may keep coming back to that church considering who singing there :D

holy shit. that's awesome. and all the best for Khan, he made Kamelot awesome.
I don't follow them, but didn't he quit because of Jesus

The forum was on life support long before Steve's episodes. I think the posting started to really slow down in late 2011. I still read the reviews and the now playing and the occasionally updated band news thread...that is better than nothing.

Yeah, but what're ya gonna do?

I read the reviews, as well, but it's rare that there are any that I am actually interested in.

A couple interesting ones a week is enough for me. Most people got older, lost interest, or just moved on: I don't think anything could have been changed.

How do you just lose interest in metal? I've never really imagined myself just moving on, it's in the blood. I believe we discussed this at one point, you and I.
That still doesn't account for the lack of fresh blood, though,
Oh, well, I ain't complaining, it is fine how it is.
Need more people into black, doom and old school stuff, though.

Yeah I think we reached a consensus on that a while back: those people just don't make a lot of sense.

On the other hand, that Satan review discussion a few days ago was pretty good. I don't normally care much for Holy Terror's opinion on metal, but his conviction about Court in the Act, after you questioned him on it, actually got me listening to, and liking the album (and Cirith Ungol). So every now and then I imagine something good will still come out of the review discussions.

That's one reason. The other being vocal burnout.

That's probably part of why he left i guess, he said that he felt a calling and went ahead and pursued it, so he and his wife left were they used to live to come to my hometown and settle down there and see what happened. Maybe i'll get to talk to him some more next time, i'm planning on going again next sunday.

Yeah he did sound ever so SLIGHTLY off, but his voice was still in pretty good shape.

Edit: Checked out the church's website, apparently he works there!

The thing that gets you going to church on a regular basis: Sunday morning chats with Roy Khan.

i lost interest in metal because why listen to metal when you can listen to opera ?

But really, it's felt more like I've gained interest in other things more than that I've lost interest in metal. For a couple years it was all I listened to, and now I have more of it than I'll ever need, so I don't look for new stuff.

Sometimes I wonder if my music taste will ever become stable. I stopped buying CDs about five years ago, and now there's hardly any CDs in my collection that I'll still listen to. And I stopped buying vinyl two or so years ago, and the amount of stuff that I enjoy there is dwindling. I like the idea of stuff I've enjoyed since childhood, but favourites don't stay favourites :-(

I don't know; I grew up listening to AJFA, Cowboys from Hell and La Sexorcisto in my brother's room in the basement. I listened to Cowboys from Hell two days ago. Shit has been around for far too long for me to grow out of it by this point.

Some stuff like Tool and Radiohead hasn't gone away. Like the stuff I loved as a 14 year old stuck, but my favourites since turning 16 have been fleeting. Although The Mars Volta still tickle me just as pink as they did seven years ago, and I've had Protest the Hero around a while. Just tons of stuff that used to be earth shaking that's fallen by the wayside. (Opeth, Neurosis, Devin Townsend, Reverend Bizarre, Converge, Slough Feg, Thrice, King Crimson, Dillinger Escape Plan, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork  ) I can still see why I liked it, but listening to it ain't what it used to be. The experience of listening to a new album by a once favourite and being unmoved, and then going back to the old stuff and being similarly unmoved, makes me feel like a little bit of me has died.

Haha yeah, i guess the Lord does work in mysterious ways after all  and he did invite me back so i thought hey, what the hell right? They are supposedly a liberal and progressive church so i get to see how progressive they really are next time....and i get to talk to Roy Khan :D

After you told her not to...

Who needs duels; kick his ass in. Then tell your girlfriend to hit the fucking bricks.

Don't take that shit, noodles. Be as free you were in that picture you recently posted of yourself in the vast Canadian wilderness. There are more women out there somewhere in it, women that don't kiss other guys.

For now she's getting another chance because she was honest enough to tell me about it, but it's changed how I see the relationship in a way that could definitely lead to its demise.

It seems as if she has already gotten two chances. Kinda the moment in which you want an explanation and no explanation will suffice.

But yeah, follow ebd's advice and become a mountain man. Start black metal band. Write song comparable to Fucking Your Ghost in Chains of Ice. Rinse and repeat.

It'll be hard to line dance every week and get his knitting supplies if he's living in the wilderness.

Probably more jealous of the guy she kissed than the fact she kissed somebody else.

The GF is for keeping up appearances and all.
