So the biggest fight of the year is only just over a week away. Nobody has anything to say?

All the hype videos are a who's-who of UFC fighters saying that Weidman is the guy who will dethrone Silva. Silva is saying he's never trained harder for a fight than this one. Epic main event on our hands?
Silva in three? Nah, wrestling is probably the only thing that can stop Silva so this could be the end of the line. I expect something comparable to first match against Sonnen, he'll pull it out last minute with a submission.

I bet Weidman tries to strike with him for a bit, and totally regrets it.

And I bet Silva doesn't hang back like he tends to and goes after him when he does.

That's the way he fights though. He takes a round or two to figure out his timing, range, etc.. Then goes for the kill. It's gotten him a 16-0 record in the UFC, but you know Weidman will be in his face as soon as the opening bell goes. I'm so exited I'm getting goosebumps while typing this.

I know that's the way he fights, but given how I don't think he wants to stretch a fight out with Weidman five rounds, I'm not entirely sure he'll hang back. I'm stoked.

I'm hoping Silva makes Weidman look like a bitch.

Weidman definitely has a big mouth, nothing like Sonnen mind you, but he talks a big game. Now he has to back it up against the greatest of all time.

Nobodies talking about Frankie Edgar's must win fight in the co-main event vs Charles Oliveira. He loses that it's 4 straight for the former champ.

He should beat Oliveira. If anything is working against him it's that the fight is only three rounds, but I'm still reasonably confident in Edgar's abilities.

Agreed, but Gracie has some slick BJJ and is definitely a threat if he gets Kennedy down. Boetsch obviously has that one punch power, but I think we see the real Muñoz this weekend and not the chump who got obliterated by Weidman. And don't ever sleep on Dennis Siver.

Still, I agree.

Former Welterweight title challenger Thiago "Pitbull" Alves is injured and out of his fight with Matt "The Immortal" Brown. Mike "Quicksand" Pyle will take his spot. Brown is on a 5 fight win streak, Pyle has won 4 straight.

Also, UFC 165 this September in Toronto will have 2 title fights on the card. Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson which we already knew, and now Interim Bantamweight Champion Renan Barao goes for his 31st straight win, 6th in the UFC, when he meets former WEC Bantamweight Champion Eddie Wineland. Barao will be gunning for his 2nd title defence.

Former Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector "Lightning" Lombard will drop down to welterweight and will be fighting former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion and UFC Middleweight title challenger Nate "The Great" Marquardt.

I forgot to add that Marquardt, even though has 12 losses on his record, is coming into this fight on the first 2 fight losing streak of his career.

Joe Rogan "two questions... First, what's it like kissing Anderson Silva?"

Chris Weidman "he's got soft lips. I hope my wife doesn't get jealous."

I like how Silva kept walking forward and Weidman kept backing up. Think it finally hit Weidman that he's fighting The Spider and not just some other fighter under contract? I think so.

Wow. Silva got cocky and he got caught. So much for retiring undefeated in the UFC.

Idk if he needed to come out aggressive, I think he did, but pulling that shit on the guy who had the closest chance to beating him since the first Chael fight was fucking stupid.

Man that was crazy. We were stunned when we saw it, no one said a word for the longest time.

Silva has been doing that stuff more and more and it ultimately bit him in the ass. For every fight he had he'd try something even more outrageous, he started developing bad habits because he got away with it. It obviously had devastating effect against mediocre strikers like Okami, Sonnen and Bonnar but it's ill advised against a dangerous guy with a big reach like Weidman.

We'll see where he goes from here after having some time off and thinking about things. He's still the greatest p4p in the world if he'd just fight a bit smarter and not show off so much. I give credit to Weidman for doing all the right things but it feels like Silva beat himself. Joe Rogan called it hubris and I think it's a fitting term.

Fuck, I don't know why I'm devastated but I am.
