Max Richter "The Blue Notebooks" (beautiful sad music... very inspired of Philip Glass works...)

UP NEXT
Rachel's "Handwriting" (chamber post rock... as in chamber music)
bill frisell, elvin jones & dave holland "s/t" (classy modern jazz)
A Hawk and a Hacksaw - Darkness at Noon (experimental folk music)
Godspeed You Black Emperor "F# A# (infinity)", "Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada" (the most powerful post rock act ever !)

Alexisonfire - It was the fear of myself that made me odd.

Actually i'm on an Alexisonfire listening spree.
i'm listening to their 2 albums ( S/T and Watch Out)
back to back. Great mixture of elements such as metal, punk
with a great dynamic between the screaming and clean vocals.
The write great hooks and their songs are very melodic and catchy.
anyone here actually heard of them ?

I sure did... imo their first album was better (because fresher) but I just gave the last one 2/3 spins so it would be a bit hasty to flame it yet... overall, they're still a very much entertaining modern hardcore act... :D

NP
Clogs "s/t" (awesome orchestral post rock... think orchestral as small ensemble not a big fat 72 musicians ! )

I actually got the chance to see them(Alexisonfire) last friday at the quebec city "Festival d'été de Québec" and they were excellent with the exception of their first song "accidents" that didn't seem to come out right. I unfortunately missed Porcupine tree who were playing thursday night, at that same festival, I had other obligations. From previous posts you seem to be a fan of PT, have you had the chance of seeing them live?

Heard of them, heard a few tracks, and although I don't really like that sort of music I can tolerate them a lot more than the rest of the shit. The Bled aren't bad either.

Np : 3 Inches Of Blood - Advance And Vanquish.

Yep, definately metalcore! :o (you cut my tongue out so I can't stick it out anymore! )

Max Richter - The Blue Notebooks
Jonas Hellborg, Buckethead, Michael Shrieve - Octave of the Holy Innocents (crazy rocking jazz... but still jazz, sorry lads !)
Brian Eno - Apollo (the ambient king)

System of a Down - Mesmerize (way better than most of you guys think ! :P )

up next
Peter Hammill - Nadir's Big Chance (1975)
Quote:
Get this: Hammill, one of music's most interesting and intelligent songwriters, delivering a concept album in 1975 in which he thinks himself into the mind of an aggressive 16-year-old punk rocker. It's not all screaming noise - the "soul struts" and "weepy ballads" include some of Hammill's most beautiful love songs - but it's that rage that impresses most from the moment the banks of distorted guitars start howling at the beginning of the title track. And as Hammill so presciently screams at the end of that same track: "Smash the system with a song!"

Hell, I'm growing more and more into this Dark Ambient stuff. Boring? Maybe, if you are too lazy to listen.

Do you see that differently due to the metalcore outbreak, or is it the same as before for you? I find it kind of hard to listen to now.
