Dare I ask why the low(-ish) rating, Zad?

Yet to listen to this one, I enjoyed Mabool and ORwarriOR fine but they never had too much staying power for me. I respect their passion for their message though, that sort of thing takes serious dedication :dio:

I don't think that rating is all that lowish. If 50 is truly average, 65 is comfortably above it, right? I have a strong suspicion that I would have given this a lower rating, if this is indeed a continuation of their last album, as the review suggests.

Lower, but not too low - felt that the reduced prog and heaviness really hurt them. I appreciate the hippy singalong stuff (and they're doing a good job of a very serious issue) but it's simply not what I want to hear from them.

This is probably their weakest album , I won't say its bad but its really average IMO, not worth listening to and it got boring pretty quickly.

Personally, id score it around 50.

I would probably give this a 70-75. Definitely not as good as the previous two albums....the first five songs are great but after that the only really good song is Our Own Messiah (the rest are average to decent).

Not sure these guys will ever top Mabool. ORwarriOR was a big step down, I think.

Mabool is their best for mine, I liked ORwarriOR as well but this one seems kind of, oh I don't know, it's just thereabouts. Nothing really impressive but not really unpleasant either.

If anyone is looking for a band with Middle Eastern/Arabic influence you can try "Acyl" an Algerian/French band, they only have one album "Algebra", but its really good - definitely better than Orphaned Land's last two albums (although not as good as Mabool).

I can play the Oud and have been listening to Arabic music from a young age, I think "Acyl" are pretty talented and adding Arabic vocals gives an interesting twist to their music.

Maybe Zadok would be interested in a review for them since he's a fan of Arkan, Myrath and other Middle Eastern influenced bands?

With having listened to this, twice attentively, I can surely say that this is quite a good album. There aren't many sing alongs that Zad had mentioned; when it is the case, it is so well done, with tenor and soprano vocal stylling. There is definitely some outstanding tracks on this album but the overall quality is consistent with some odd moments combined towards the middle and somewhat towards the end. I would give it an 80. My score will probably increase with time. kodos to the subject matter on this album. tremendous stuff.

Orwarrior was the first thing I heard by OL, then I discovered Mabool and they easily became one of my favourite prog bands. And then I heard All is One, and after the second listen I confirmed that it was the disappointment of 2013. Where were the riffs and the top notch songwriting that were the staple of OL? After the first track I was bored into indifference.
