This is disappointing to hear. Cavalera's lyrics have always been fairly pedestrian but musically I hoped he would continue in the same direction as Conquer and Enslaved. I'll probably still give this a listen, but the thought of trudging through an hour of distorted nu-metal shite makes me hesitant.

Todd Jones was completely wasted in his guest spot on Sodomites. Similar to how Travis Ryan was wasted when he guested. Doesn't give me hope. The best Soulfly albums are the ones best able to utilize their guest spots: Unleash, Rise of the Fallen, Molotov. Not sure if I'm ready to be beholden to that statement, but it doesn't seem wrong.

Interesting theory, but I don't think it's the guest musicians that "make or brake" their albums. All of the really good Soulfly albums (Dark Ages, Conquer and Enslaved) showcase the best qualities of Max's past work in Sepultura and Nailbomb. The band's nu-metal tinged stuff just feels so beneath Cavalera's musical ability that it's damn frustrating to hear sloppy, downtuned Slipknot-esque riffs when you know he can thrash like a motherfucker.

I'm pretty sure that what I did was science, so... yeah, I'm kinda right.
