I was picking up my son from his sports practice and this way playing. I think I was in the middle of Day, the opening track, and while we were driving we got to experience Day and Broken Movements that followed. He told me "Dad, this is so sad. Please, don't listen to this, now I understand how you can get into this sad frame of mind of yours when you listen to this for a while". But, then, he said "it is sad, but so beautiful", so next time we rode, he said, "can we listen to that sad and beautiful band?". So I put on Ribbon of Shadow with its obvious 1-2-3 waltz rhythms. He loved it, and next time we had mom in our car, he suggested we put it on again.
Right frame of mind to catch this is a must. The first two times I could not even get through Day. But then, yes, it clicked, and I like this a lot. Imagine much slower and all ambient dark Grayceon, (without crazy percussion Gypsy stuff), and Amber Asylum is a good comparison too, but this is a lot more private and deep.
