Perfection.

Inspired me to play this again. Such a tremendous swansong.

Thank you for your post, North. Yes, I have lived with Rush's music on many different occasions of life, mostly, when life was very difficult, indeed. Rush's lyrics, their clock-like precision, in all respects, was my constant companion, when no dog, no father, no mother, no sister, and no therapist, nor friend, was around and could ever help. Rush's music means that much to me. Rush's music is absolute spirit in the most philosophical sense possible.

Rush's music possesses an inexpressible quality that makes them endlessly enjoyable and listenable.

You can always express that a recording is brilliant. But to express precisely how brilliant it is, is simply beyond language. The degree to which this recording is brilliant is simply boundlessly brilliant. I think that would be succinct and to the point.

As eclectic and as forward-thinking as it could possibly get and yet still grounding-breaking to this date.

Ingenuity at its peak.

Admittedly, I am new to Van Halen and not ashamed of it at all. A new listener to such a prominent band, is never a bad thing. Makes the discovery all the more greater!

An album oozing with charisma, wit and sophistication.

I have been away from King Crimson for some time now but this band still occupies a special place in my great affection for progressive rock. There is only one King Crimson that sounds as avant-garde, and as competent as Crimson, without any pretense, and without going to senseless extremes, just to sound different. King Crimson is singular and without rivals.

No introduction needed for this band or this album.

This debut is to my liking, more so than the later works. I wish there were a lot of more activity from all instruments, generally speaking, most specially from Van Halen himself. But then again, it would not be a late 70's Halen recording, after all.

Much more excellent axemanship from the Maestro himself. The rest of the band is good but the drums do sound awkward but that is the case with most mid to late 80's rock recordings. I particularly like the vocals quite a bit. Lively, passionate and emotionally-charged. The production is very quite and that is rather bothersome to me.
