The biggest problem with this book is that Palahniuk's style gets really grating after 300 or so pages, but other than that, it's good stuff.

Critics are really over-bashing this one, probably 'cause it's such a regression to his old style after the departure of Diary.

Terry Pratchett's counterstrike
I'm not saying anything about the Potter books since I haven't read them. But based on the fantasy books I've read, my vote goes to Pratchett. Kinda funny anyway...

It's not a particularly harsh rebuttal, is it. Pratchett's classy enough to make her argument seem silly without attacking her, which I applaud.

Also, in my opinion, the Discworld books are a million, billion, fraznillion times better than the Harry Potter books..

I finished the last book of Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy the other day. The way it ended left me underwhelmed.

Hell yeah! Even if they do all have the same basic theme (the Rincewind ones especially).

and I just finished Metamorphosis. Now I'm reading Some Poe and Lovecraft stuff as usual.
