Hmm, after telling us how good it is, would you mind giving some more information on how this album is compared to their other albums?

It's their best album in my opinion.

I agree with Jaden. The follow up to this, called Insanity, really missed the mark as far as I'm concerned, the reason being new vocalist Andreas Sydow. While he is a competant vocalist, he has a completley different style than Mackrory did. He is a much more growl type vocalist and that style doesn't mix well with their speed. Sydow vastly improved on the most recent release, Expanding Senses because he actually tried to sound like Mackrory again.

Insanity is a much more produced album again and isn't as chaotic or frenzied as Rusted Angel. Expanding Senses was a vast improvement over Insanity and is my second favorite after the debut. Expanding senses and Insanity both added electronic elements which are completley absent on this disc. Darkane should really tone those down in the future. It only makes their music seem overblown to me.

Thank you, it seems that Rusted Angel is something to Darkane like Steelbath Suicide is to Soilwork: their most raw and best work. I ocasionally like raw melodeath, I really liked Enter Chaos' Dreamworker too, which has almost a black metal production...

Soilwork's Predator's Portrait is the only "old" Soilwork album I have, and actuall the only Soilwork album I have, and I must say it's pretty cool.

rusted angel is my favorite because of the vocals. this band's music often revolves around insanity and stuff, and mackrory's vocals are downright freaky. how the hell does this guy scream like this? his vocals really flow well with the jagged lyrics.

rusted angel pwns.

I think Predator's Portrait was the best. It has the brutality of their melodeath routes, yet good production and a tight sound. It was a nice medium.

I do really like all Soilwork however, with the exception of Figure Number Five, which was too weak.

The Soilwork comparison doesn't work to well. Soilwork radically changed their musical style while Darkane pretty much stayed true to their original mold and changed the vocals and production.

I pretty much like the first three Soilwork albums the best. I can't stand Natural Born Chaos at all. I find that album to be incredibly mediocre. Figure Number Five was a step up from NBC but didn't come close to matching their earlier stuff, especially Steelbath and Chainheart.

I thought NBC was a lot better than Figure Number Five. Song of the Damned, Follow the Hollow, and The Bringer were wicked songs. Figure Number Five seemed too watered down for me. Even NBC felt a bit watered down, but not too much that I didn't like the album.

I'm not trying to argue with you. Steelbath Suicide and Chainheart Machine are awesome. I think Predator's Portrait is just a bit better.

Good production isn't always a bad thing, ya know.

Jay pretty much nailed the description of all three Darkane CD's.

Rusted Angel was definitely the most chaotic, raw, and aggressive. Insanity tried to do too many things. There were some awesome riffs, but the songs themselves went nowhere and the band tried to make the music too complex for its own good... and they realized that. They purposely made Expanding Senses more simple, which is why Wildoer seems like he's holding back on almost every song. While Expanding Senses lacked the chaotic tendencies of Rusted Angel, the songs were very easy to listen to with memorable riffs and solid vocals. Though it lacks songs like Convicted, which kills my neck every time I listen to that break near the end, Expanding Senses was enjoyable as Rusted Angel.

A bit confused. If I really love Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates but find Soilwork to be total crap. Might I still like Darkane?
