One of the greatest symphonic recordings, by an orthodox Russian composer, and a great interpreter, and equally great symphony, and recording quality. All around brilliant set, in all aspects. A rarity.

Vital forces at play.

A very difficult day made just a bit better, with this album.

Not typically the biggest of fan of Mr. Shorter's own studio albums and much prefer him working alongside with major jazz musicians, but I am going through the entirety of my jazz music collection, and so it was his turn.

Well, you know how it is with Wayne's music. It is so moody, and disorienting, that at times, it takes an entire album to get into the groove and the modalities of the album itself, which thereafter, you'd either have listen to it all over again, or immediately turn to a different recording of his, with the near same modalities. This is indeed to get the full effects of his highly original but difficult music.

He certainly drifts you away from an average day, that is for sure.

I have not listened to this recording for a few months now, and so it is rather refreshing to return to it, after sometime away from it.

Modern jazz cannot ever be equal to the timeless masters, whom generated an entire groundwork and foundation, for what would is now modern post-jazz, which has undergone many changes, and not at all for the better, I can say, with a good measure of confidence. But all changes are necessary, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

Early listening expositions but the pleasure of listening is already increasing in value and merit.

A wonderfully played acoustic recording with the delicacy of high mythological soothingness. Music to dream your day away.

A lesser listened recording, but I shall be giving this one much more of a chance, since it is lesser know album, and also lesser appreciated.

A favourite lineup of mine and one of which led me to follow and explore much more of Mr. Blakey's chief magnificence, amongst others, too.
